What do you do when your starter is too large for your flask? =;>

Well that's good to hear that room temp storage seems to fine. I'd never really dove too deep into it. Just threw it in the fridge since the bottle said to.

I guess I got this one from NB. Pretty sure the vials from my LHBS say the same.

You probably haven't seen it on the shelf because it needs to be refrigerated. At my LHBS, it's kept in the secret fridge in the back room and I have to ask for it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Bayou Classic vs Tallboy for BIAB

I have the exact BC kettle you linked to (44qt). Have been using it for about a year and have no complaints. Construction seems to be good. The only thing I've noticed is that the bottom of the kettle has a little bit of flex to it, like it's every so slightly bowed. I only notice it when I'm...

    Immersion or counterflow chiller?

Back when I was using a DIY garden house CFC, we would immediately rinse after transfer and blow dry with an air compressor. After year or more of using, we decided to do a more thorough cleaning by running hot PBW through the chiller, capping it and letting it sit and soak for 30 minutes. The...

    Immersion or counterflow chiller?

I don't worry about hot-side aeration and don't believe that it's a thing. I've heard arguments on both sides. If post-boil hot-side aeration was a real concern no one would ever whirlpool their wort. On the commercial side of things, I would think most breweries employ a whirlpool post-boil for...

    Immersion or counterflow chiller?

I don't think you're running any risks with a slow cool. As long as you can keep your beer protected during the cool down you should be fine. I've entered a wort transformation contest where the brewery creates the wort and you pitch your own yeast. I'll bet 24 hours went by before I could pitch...

    White labs wlp565 saison I

You don't necessarily need to take a reading this early. Waiting a week won't hurt anything. Was just curious to see where things are at this early on in the process with this strain. I've only used this strain twice so far, the second being a batch I brewed on 6/22. That batch fermented...

    White labs wlp565 saison I

If you haven't taken a gravity reading yet, I'd give that a shot. I'd be interested to see where your gravity is already. Even if blow off activity has slowed/stopped the yeast will be working away. I'm guessing there's still a bunch of krausen present? Is the wort still milky with suspended...
