    Fale Bottom Issues??

I have a nut on both the bottom and the top of the joint on my false bottom. Im still for some reason getting small pieces of husks flowing through into my kettle. Im not sure exactly how clear the wort is supposed to be when you drain it. It looks pretty clear but still has small pieces of...

    Fale Bottom Issues??

Every time I start to drain from my round cooler mash tun, I always get a lot of husks that come through in the liquid. I would vorlauf like normal and recycle the wort back into the mash, but it just keeps coming up with husks. I thought it was my grind but I tried this with my LHBS mill and I...

    Honey Cream Ale?

Does anyone have a good recipe for this brew? I just had one at the local pub and gotta say its damn good! Very refreshing brew, light pale color, kinda has a slight heaviness for mouth feel, very potent brew with the honey addition. Any recipes would be appreciated! Good brew for spring time!

    First all grain started!

What are you using as a mash tun? How are you sparging??? Check this out. This is what I do to make sure my starches convert....

    First all grain started!

I just did my first all grain batch last week and hit the same temp. Not a problem as long as the starches convert. It may take a little longer but it shouldn't be a problem. Do an iodine test to see if the starches convert before sparging. Good luck!

    Finding Grain Characteristics

Yes...this is the exact recipe I got from NB kit I bought. Amarillo is a first hop addition. Instructions tell you to put hops in as your draining from the mash tun to your kettle. I think bender is the same way too.

    Finding Grain Characteristics

I'm a new all grain brewer so bear with me. I just finished making a brew sold at northern brewer called "Surly Furious". I'm trying to write down the recipe into my brew program but I'm having a hard time trying to find grain characteristics for some of the grains used. Is there a good site...

Need Suggestion for NW IPA Recipe

I hit a 1.014 on it. I had it in the primary fermenter for 3 weeks. I took this recipe and made it with extract. My first all grain brew session is coming up here soon. Would like to try and get a good recipe down for it :)

Need Suggestion for NW IPA Recipe

What can I use to add more malt flavor to it? Its kinda hard to describe...lol. But the heavy malt flavor and caramel tang to it is what I love the most. I can add the hops as necessary. Just looking for a good starting point on my grains.

Need Suggestion for NW IPA Recipe

I do like Redhook's ESB color and flavor....but it doesnt have that citrusy hop flavor or aroma to it.

Need Suggestion for NW IPA Recipe

I have been looking for an IPA recipe that will yield a heavy malt, dark brown color, sweet caramel flavor, and a nice hint of citrus aroma to it. Alot of brews here in WA state have this distinctive color and flavor but im having a hard time figuring out what I need for an all grain recipe to...

    Blichmann 15 Gallon Kettle

That would be awesome if you can pull that up for me man! I have searched on the forum and couldnt find anything. I think 15 would be the way to go for both 10 and 5 gallon boils. You can always boil 8 or 9 gallons in the kettle and just top it off with water when it goes in the fermenter...

    Blichmann 15 Gallon Kettle

Money is not a huge issue for me (Not rich or anything). I'm looking for quality and functionality. The Blichmann kettles seem to be the way to go. Just wondering if anyone has one and what there thoughts are on it. Has anyone modified a 15 gallon kettle thermometer to brew 5 gallons of beer?

    Blichmann 15 Gallon Kettle

Just wondering if anyone out there has this kettle and what their thoughts are on it. It seems kinda pricey, but the quality looks good. Also, has anyone taken this kettle and moved the thermometer to another location to accommodate a 5 gallon boil? I'm looking at doing 5 gallon batches for the...
