    Chest freezer heater

I use a reptile heater pad in my 8.8cuft Kenmore. It's a 16 watt model and with my utility room at 40 degrees the heater keeps my temperature up to 68 with no problem. Best yet it only uses 16 watts! These pads are just warm to the touch, but you don't need much heat in a insulated freezer to...

How much beer is left in the keg??

I use a tally sheet that is on a clip board by me keezer. When someone pulls a pint we make a mark. With the glasses I have usually I get about 40 or a little more pours and it kicks. This method works really good for me. Measure your glasses and divide that into 5 gallons and you will be...

    Condensation

I put 3 or 4 yellow micro fiber towels from Costco in the lower corners of mine. Every time I change out something I take out the towels to dry and add fresh ones. I also use these in my keezer with great results. They really suck up the moisture and you can re-use them.

show us all your fermentation closets/chambers here

I like my keezer so much that I built this setup for fermenting. I did the same double hinge setup as my keezer, so the lid or entire collar can be lifted separately. With the collar I can get a carboy on the hump. I have a Love controller that runs the freezer compressor and a reptile heater...

    Bayou Classic SQ14 lift kit

I did the pipe deal on mine for awhile, used 2" black iron pipe over the legs. It's really scary watching 10 gallons of boiling liquid move around without anyone touching the keggle. Just could never get it stable on the pipe legs. The base I have now is rock solid and I don't have to keep...

    Bayou Classic SQ14 lift kit

Decided to lift up my SQ14 burner, so I welded some legs to it. Turned out so good I might try selling this setup someday. I used 3/16 x 2 angle, probably could go with lighter steel next time but the 2" looks good so maybe just a little thinner gauge. This thing is heavy duty, you could set...

    DIY Beer Chalkboard

Nice job on the chalkboard MW66. I made one up myself awhile back. Put a oak frame around mine and used a piece of birch plywood I had laying around with chalkboard paint. While I was drinking some brew with my Son in Law one night my daughter put some hop vines on my board.

    Monster Mill using hand crank?

My drill works pretty hard to turn my MM-3, no way I would want to crank it. You can get a Harbor Freight 1/2" slow speed drill for less than $40.

I have my 3rd batch cooking right now and I'm having a pint of my second.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Well I'm drinking my second batch of Centennial Blonde. Followed original recipe for the first batch and changed it up a little on the second. Second batch I used 20L Crystal Malt to get a better color, that yellow color just didn't do it for me. I also used Wyeast 1272 American Ale II. I...

    Need Help with washed yeast

I get good results with my method of washing wyeast 1968 (same as wlp002). I experimented awhile and came up with these instructions that I copied over from my Beersmith notes. You need to get the yeast out of the carboy fast before it settles, this is key to getting a good harvest. Then to...

Wyeast 1272 slow starting for anyone else?

I use 1272 all the time and it is always showing life after 12 hrs, lots of krausen and finished up on the stir plate before 24hrs. My last starter was made with 3 month old washed yeast and a 1000ml starter boiled out of my 2000ml flask. Like others have said here the temperature of the wort...

    Condensation in my keezer

I suppose if you never open your keezer and the air is dry inside you would get no condensation. But in my world I have to open up the keezer to change a keg, adjust pressures, clean beer lines, etc. I spray sanitizer on my posts and lids when putting a new keg in, this adds moisture. There...

    Which Love temperature controller?

I used a Love TS3 for my Keezer and it's working great. It's $50 at Dwyer without the probe, which is a great price compared to some of the other Love controllers that are used for a keezer. For my fermentor I used a Love TSS2, these have 2 relays for heating and cooling.

Copper manifold for 10 gal Rubbermaid cooler

Less than a pint was left. Its probably more like a cup, I never did pour it out and measure it.

Bottling from taps - Perlick owners

My son in law and I bottled up a case and a half the other day using the Bowie Bottler. I have 10' beer lines and then used about a 2' line from my tap. Here is the secret to keeping beer off the ceiling....you must turn off the tap before the beer gets to the bottom of the stopper, if that...

    CHI Company problems

I'm not smearing, just asking if anyone else is having this trouble with them. Maybe someone knows how to deal with them in a more productive way?

    CHI Company problems

Anyone else have trouble with the CHI Company? I had to call 3 times to get my order correct and still they haven't shipped one of my items. 3 shipments later they still have missed one item in my order. NO response to any of my emails. They must be going down hill with customer service..
