Hair of the Dog - Adam

I have a bottle of Adam in the fridge and am thinking about brewing something in the same vain soon. Does anyone know what yeast strain is in the bottle?

    Cutting Kegs

Sorry I missed this. Looks like you already did it, but yeah, it should work. Just depressurize the keg first.

    Simplest (?) Keggle Cutting Jig

I posted my jig in another thread, but since this thread is a nice collection of jigs, I thought I'd post it here too. I was having MAJOR issues getting the stem out of my keg and couldn't use the inside of the opening for my pivot, so I went outside...

    Good idea. Thanks.

    Cracked Erlenmeyer Flask

So...if I only have an electric stove, would I be better off using my gas, backpacking stove?

    First AG..80% efficiency...Great Success!

I did my first all-grain batch over the weekend as well, but I didn't do as well on my efficiency as you did; only 67%. I also missed my final volume a bit and had to top off. In hindsight, I probably should have done two batch sparges and that would have help both issues I think. But...

    Cracked Erlenmeyer Flask

I found out after creating my last starter, that I could put my Erlenmeyer directing on the stove, but I have an electric. Why are they not recommended?

Beer Tools Pro 1.5 Tutorial Videos

I'm doing my first all-grain batch today, and while my strike water is heating up, I'm looking over some of the features I don't use...yet. When calibrating a heat vessel, does the "Time to heat 18 deg" value need to be time of the first 18 deg of heating above the "Enviroment" temp, or just...

    Cutting Kegs

Got my jig built. Since I can't get the stem out and pivot inside, I made a collar with a 2.5 inch hole saw. Had I had picked up the correct size cutting wheel today, I'd already be done.

    Cutting Kegs

I certainly feel like I've hammered enough...maybe I'll demoralize it with a string of expletives when I get home.

    Cutting Kegs

I tried that before and after getting the safety latch disabled. I even stepped up my game to a stone chisel and 3lb sledge and it won't budge.

    Cutting Kegs

I've been having some serious issues getting the stem out of my (I assume) euro sanke. Through brute force, I've managed to depressurize the keg and remove the safety clip, but I can't get the stem to unscrew to save my life. I'll probably just go ahead cut the lid off, but it's bothering me...

    Cutting Kegs

ah ok. that makes sense. edit: although, in the OP, the opening on the hole saw is facing up so I assume it was fitting inside the hole.

    Cutting Kegs

if a 2" hole saw fits, wouldn't a 1/2" PVC be too loose?

    Cutting Kegs

I'm planning to cut the top off my keg tonight. What size hole saw did you use for the center pivot?

FH Steinbart is going to be the closest to you. I normally go to Brew Brothers or Main Brew's new place off 26, but both of those are on the westside; my neck of the woods.

Building Mash Tun : Rectangle vs. Round

I think my next DIY homebrew project will be a cooler based mash tun. What are the pros and cons of choosing one over the other?
