Thanks for the input mpcluever! Here's a quick link to check out "Metallurgy for Homebrewers ". http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=5733.0 As for the hop debris turning the cleaning solution green, It's a possibility, but I usually back flush with 190F water until...

Proper Cleaning of a Duda Diesel PHE

http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=5733.0 I'm thinking the cleaning solution is taking the oxide off the copper thus taking a thin layer off every time I clean it. Does that make sense? Thanks,

Proper Cleaning of a Duda Diesel PHE

Hey everybody, I have a DD B3-23A plate heat exchanger and I was experimenting with different chemicals to clean it without corroding the copper brazing inside. I've tried 1% caustic as well as PBW recirculating backwards through it at 150F and they both clean just fine. The only...

    CO2 Line Question

not that I have noticed, I have 5 draft lines and the longest is about 4 ft and the shortest is 1.5 ft. They all come out of a manifold with one line in from the tank. I would be interested to see if anybody else has a more "scientific" response though.

diacetyl rest on Scottish wee heavy?

I brewed a Scotch Wee Heavy about 3 weeks ago and it's still in the primary at the end of fermentation, I kept the temp down to 58-60F for the entire fermentation so far. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to do a 24 to 48 hour diacetyl rest be for racking to secondary so the yeast can...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Hey Jason, Thanks, I wanted a small foot print to save space and by having the mash tun up high I could fly sparge with one pump instead of two. I don't know if that matters so much (batch vs. fly) but at least it's an option. The only problem was getting 20+ lbs of soaked grains down from...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Here is my system! It's all direct fire, there is plans to put a RIMS tube on it but for now it's all manual. I also want to put a Bobby M mash tun insulation project on it since the reflective junk is melting if I turn the flame on to high. cheers!:mug:
