If I remember correctly, the taste came out pretty dang good, but the body was pretty thin. I took notes at the time, but I've moved since then and have no idea where they are.
I have Willamette, Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook growing right now. The Chinook is having a harder time than the rest, but I am getting cones off of all them (they are first year plants too) right now!
I'm in Orlando area. Centennial has hops already, first year plant.

+1 on not using Chlorine to sanitize. I had two ruined batches with a taste similar to what you are describing and I was using Chlorine to sanitize for a year. So 2/12 batches were ruined basically, fast forward and I'm using star san now, no ruined batches in the last 5-6. Also get a filter for...

I've been meaning to get some starsan but I usually forget/am too lazy to go get it on brewday. Looks like that will be my next buy before my...
The fault I am noticing smells and tastes strongly of hose water on a summer day when you first turn it on. I don't use hose water and I've had the majority of my batches come out smelling/tasting fine. Some information that might help diagnose what I am dealing with below.

Check the sticky at the top of this subforum titled "Washing Yeast Illustrated". It's very informative and I've followed it multiple times with success.
I've used 8mo old yeast with success before and I imagine I could use older yeast, just haven't tried so yet.
Hey Erroneous, yeah I ended up getting around 15 which turned out to be too many. I've had some problems with them which I've needed to fix (bending the lid lips up and replacing some of the valves). I've got 5 left that I haven't touched and presumably still need some work but if you want them...
