    Mold and or Infection

Yeah, I'll be home either later today or wednesday for thanksgiving break so I'll take some. It was only a 2.75 gallon experimental batch, so it doesn't really matter to me if i need to dump it. The fat from the cocoa separated anyway so I'm not sure how this turned out, hence the experiment...

    Mold and or Infection

So I checked my mint chocolate stout in secondary, and i have this white ring around where the beer meets the glass, upon agitating it, the ring broke up into tiny rods. There is also some small patches of fuzzy stuff and what almost most defiantly looks like a mold spore growing on the inside...

Where to buy erlenmeyer flask from

Well yeah, that goes without saying.

Where to buy erlenmeyer flask from

If you're using a stir plate it doesn't really mater what you use, Erlenmeyer invented his flask so you could stir the contents inside one handedly by swirling it around. So unless you are hand agitating the starter, you can use any glass container.

    Beer tastes like vinegar

YES! I do a StarSan soak of everything that touches my cooled wort, after dumping the StarSan right before throwing the wort into the fermenter, I give everything a good spray down with StarSan making sure everything is wet, even the rim and outside of the bucket and the outside of the lid.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

Triumph Brewery in Princeton made a ginger ale back in late September/early October. Might try this and see how it stacks up.

So I'm trying something different, I bought a can of chalkboard spraypaint, and this seems to be working after a couple of washes. Haven't thrown them through a star-san rinse yet, so that'll be the real test.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Ha, BucksPA, I have some family in Yardley.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a mint chocolate stout that i found in the recipe section, did a half batch and somehow overshot my gravity by a lot, but i guess such is life. We'll see what happens in a week.

Here you go, I threw this together in the 5 minutes between two of my classes, I did the best I could with the graphic, it's tough because theres not that much detail. Whoops, didn't realize there wasn't a apostrophe between the r and the s, I didn't save it but I can make it again, or...

If you have a higher resolution image I could do it.

Haha, no problem, I'm addicted to graphic design so its fun for me. I actually mocked that up real quick in illustrator.

I would keep "brew co" but I would change it to BREWING COMPANY and space it out to fit under "eleven," something like this but not necessarily the same font. It creates a hierarchy of text, with a primary, secondary, and tertiary zone

    Bacon Beer

I second the Rauchbier, it won't be an authentic "bacon" beer, but it will have the same smokey taste that bacon has, add some maple syrup, possibly condition with it and you're good to go.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

If everything goes according to plan, I'm going to be brewing a mint chocolate stout this Friday.

    2.5 Gallon Brew Time

Well yeah, as long as the right amount goes into the fermenter thats all that matters, but if I wind up evaporating too fast, and flame out, it'll mess with my 10 minute and 2 minute hop additions

    2.5 Gallon Brew Time

Thanks, I'll probably shoot for a .75 gallon boil off. I've only done 5 gallon batches but I want to try something and don't need two cases of it sitting around. I'm still going to use my 7 gallon stock pot. You can't scale physics, but I'd rather have to add a little bit of water to my wort to...

    2.5 Gallon Brew Time

Hi, forgive me if this has been posted somewhere, a quick search gave me two different answers. I'm halving a 5.5 gallon batch to 2.75 gallons, I scaled in in BeerAlchemy and it's saying my pre-boil volume is 3.25 and my final volume is 2.75 for a 60 min boil, is this correct? Thats assuming a...

    Bottle Bombs!

I don't see how they can take 10 hours each to make. Most Rustoleum paints will go on glass without a problem and dry to the touch in 30 minutes and be safe to handle in an hour or two. The only thing I can see taking some time are the box and fins. Although if you have access to a laser cutter...

    DME Question

According to beer alchemy, 2 volumes of co2, which is recommended for a stout, requires .8oz/gal of DME if you are conditioning at 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Unless the calculators specifically asked for a conditioning temperature, they probably made some assumptions and that is where you're getting...
