    California common Q's

    I'm brewing a California common, with San Francisco lager yeast and I really haven’t seen to much action in the airlock. It has been in the primary for about 5 days at about 60 degrees. Is this normal or should there be more action in the airlock?

    oxyclean and bottles

    I used 5 gallons of water and oxyclean to soak bottles for about 5 hours. Then I rinsed the bottle off with water and let dry. Do I still need to use a sanitizer?

    Soda Smell?

    I can’t seem to get the soda smell out of my kegs completely used oxyclean and a carboy brush to clean the inside but I still have a little soda like smell. Also the o-ring smells of soda as well. Will the soda smell alter the taste of my beer?

    Removing Coriander seeds

    I'm about to brew my second beer, Belgian Trappist Strong Ale. The recipe requires me to remove the coriander seeds from the wort after boiling. Should I use a filtered funnel when transporting from the wort to the primary? If not what is the best way to remove the seeds?

    no krausen(foam)

    Ok I racked my first batch last night into the secondary. When I took off the cover their was no Krausen (foam) but when I check the specific gravity it was right on! Should I be concerned with no Krausen (foam)?

    slow action in airlock

    It’s been two day since I added more yeast to my batch of brown ale (killed the first yeast). But I’m concerned because I haven’t seen too much action in the airlock. I see maybe one big bubble very minute or two. Is this normal? If not what should I do. the temp is 66F

    I brewed my first brown ale on 12/2/06 and had to add more yeast on 12/4/06 because I killed the original yeast (added when too hot). When should I take a hydrometer reading? In addition, will taking the cover off cause any problems? When I take the cover off, should I see foam? P.S I see one...

    Adding more yeast?

    I killed the yeast because I added it when the wort was too hot. Can I add more yeast to start the fermentation process over?
