How would I categorize this beer?

I made a Basil-Lime Saison. I want to classify it as a 21A (Vegetable/Herb/Spice Beer), but I don't think the basil and lime really stand out significantly. Would 23A (Specialty Beer) be a better designation?

    Outdoor brew stand questions

So, I am interested in building one of those unistrut brew stands, but I do not and will not have any indoor space to store it for the foreseeable future. Does anyone have a brew stand that is stored outside? If so, how do you protect it? Are there any extra precautions or care instructions...

Clasp for dual hinged keezer collar.

I recently converted the GE 7cf freezer from HD with painted 2x6's and chose to make it double hinged (stock hinges connect to collar and door hinges from collar to lid.) I did this because I would like to maintain the ability to revert the freezer back to its original condition. Everything...

    Freezer hinge question

How do I get this top plastic piece off? I keep trying to pull the sides but it feels like it is going to break. This is a GE 7 cf from Home Depot.

What is/was growing on this tube?

What is this stuff? I have seen stuff like it on a few bottles of beer before but never thought anything of it.

    Break separation

So before I aerated with pure o2 the massive amount of break that made it into my carboys was settled all on the bottom. After aeration it split as you can see in the picture and it hasn't settled even slightly. My questions are what causes this and what is the difference between the two...

You load 16 tuns, what do you get?

A little bit drunker and deeper in debt...

    Ice Cream Motor Stirrer

So, I picked up this Rival Ice Cream Maker for free about 2 years ago and I'm finally getting around to converting it into a HLT stirrer. What do you suppose I could do to adapt a stir rod to that weird recessed connector? I think the original paddle had those springed fins on either side that...

    DrunkTales

You know how Scrooge McDuck would love to go swimming in his money bin full of gold? I sometimes wish I could swim around in a bin full of stainless steel.

    Brewing Pet Peeves

My hydrometer will NEVER align itself to show me the SG scale. What are your pet peeves?

    Extract Book?

Given the preponderance of brewing books, I'm surprised that there is no book specifically about brewing with extract. Something that describes the history and growth of extract brewing and addresses specific concerns of extract brewers.

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box. Step 2: Put your pump in the box.

Here are a few pictures of my attempt at a March pump toolbox conversion. Power comes in from 25' extension cord and it powers my GFCI outlet. I decided not to alter the power cable on my pump, so it is plugged into a short extension cord and wired to the switch and outlet. I know the...

    Who would buy this?

Keezer Would someone actually pay $1999 for that? I mean, it's not an ugly keezer, but it's not a two grand keezer either.

    Dry Hopping Utilization

So, If I understand it correctly, normal hop utilization has to do with the isomerization of the hops alpha acids. Since no isomerization happens when dry hopping, is there no such concern? Would dry hopping with 0.2 oz in 1 gallon produce the same effect as 1 oz in 5 gallon?

20lb BIAB Belgian Imperial Rye IPA

I just finished mashing 20lbs of grain using my bag and things went great. Hit 75% efficiency. The only thing I need to fix for next time is the size of my keggle opening--just a little too big to fit through the opening. This will be my "biggest" beer to date. Hope it turns out!

    False Bottom Material

So I was wandering around the hardware store and ran across these thin perforated aluminum sheets. http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/295202-lincane_aluminum_sheet_metal.html It is only 0.020" thick, so it is very flimsy. Do you think it could befashioned into a false bottom...

    Mustache saver

I heard about these mustache steins a while ago and when I ran across one at the local flea market, I had to have it. No more foamy mustache!

    Frankenkeezer

So I received this very, very, very worn 8.8cf freezer off Craigslist for free. I would like to turn it into a keezer, but there are some concerns I have about the project itself. The skin is pulling away from the freezer in a few spots. The hinges won't budge and the lid looks like it will...

    Soil pH meters

So, will someone with some chemistry background explain to me why soil pH meters like you find at HD can't be used to measure wort pH? At the same time maybe this will explain why brewing pH meters are so much more expensive.
