Accidentally boiled twice as many hops in a 2.5 gallon batch, didnt boil half of mash

I have a hard time reading this because you still use Mr. Beer kegs. I'm not bad mouthing them, but if you really want to split a 5 gallon batch, why not step up to a 6 gallon batch and split it between 2, 3 gallon glass carboys? You can see what's going on etc.....as for messing up with a ton...

    Yeast not active

take a gravity reading first. If it's way high than you may want to.

Be patient. Give it a total of 48 hours and keep the temp around 66-68.

    Yeast advice

What are you making? Has the starter been on a stir plate this long? Why are you chilling it before pitching? I thought putting yeast to sleep (unless it's a lager) would put them in rest when your intention is to keep the alive, bouncing around, and eating up the O2 of the starter....I may...

How long to leave IPA in primary?

Everyone will tell you something different. For instance, I'm brewing an IPA myself, but I'm going to be leaving it in the primary for 3 weeks. This allows for the yeast to do it's job and clean up after its self. I'll then be moving the beer into a secondary bottling bucket. Leave it set...

    Mr Beer

I say combine the two LME's, purchase a 11g yeast packet that you think would make sense for the combined extracts, and see what happens. I'm not too far from where you are and in what I have experienced....to make it fun is to make it interesting. You can always buy more and start over...

Need help picking out a kit for a Christmas gift

If your dad hasn't done it before then go with a simple 5 gallon kit or to make it even more simpler, go with Mr. Beer. They make decent beer, effectively, and everything is right in front of you.

    MRB Castor Brown Ale

So, I'm still playing with Mr. Beer (MRB). Here's a recipe I'm playing with. I've noticed a bunch of people post and get some good responses as to what to add. Forgive me, but I do not get the whole percentage blah blah blah... 1 can creamy brown UME (19 oz) 1/2 oz of Northern Brew...
