I'm having trouble controlling my boil in manual mode. I've searched and can't figure out how to slow my boil, I'm boiling off 2 gallons an hour and this is lowest I can seem to get. Any link or suggestions would help I am using a keggle with 5500 w element.
is the spa panel protection the only protection needed or do you need breakers in the panel also? I've seen both just wondering if the spa panel is enough protection?

this looks like a decent start not sure about the controllers but alot of parts for the money.
I'm just getting started on a control panel. It's based on PJ's 1 PID diagram. but the enclosure is 20x20x10 so I can add more PID's/ timers/ etc. I'm kind of at a stand still right now being laid off work but hope to get it finished up soon.
is it possible to convert from propane to electric with a panel and 2 controllers for 400.00 dollars. I don't need alot of bells and whistles to start with but would like to add them later...(lighted switches, etc..)
I've been having trouble with my chugger cavitating. I spoke to them and they said it needs full 1/2" flow to the inlet. Has anyone tried to bore out the SS Bargin Fitting connectors or have any other solutions to the problem. I really don't want to take a drill to all the fittings I just bought.
I've noticed a few hops at HD and other sites are out of stock how fast do bulk sites usually run out? Or is this common?
I'm on the fence about a couple but dont want to have too much on hand.
I ordered my first bulk hops today.
1 lb. each Tettanger, Hallertauer, Cascade, Centennial, Magnum, Saaz, and Willamette.
Is there anything you would add to this?
I gotta figure out what bulk grains to buy next?

near the bottom of the page is a 5 gallon "food grade" container. I think he gets these from the pepsi or coke fountain machines. Are these the same thing as a "Winpak" from USplastics? or if not do you think they would be ok for fermentation?
Here is a picture of my brewstand. Thanks to all who posted pics and info on this site. I built this out of a ATV ramp that goes up to a truck bed. welded supports on the end and casters on the bottom. bargin fittings weldless kits, 1 march and 1 chugger. 1/2" x 3/4" silicone line with bargin...
I didn't check my probe on my thermocouple, the battery was low and ended up being 30 deg. of for everything. basically mashed at 184 and sparged with around 198. I'm going to go ahead with it being my first batch in a long time and also first on the new stand. My efficiency was very low but I...
I've looked around and can't seem to find what I'm looking for after testing out my setup I'm boiling off 2 gal/hr when boiling 6 gallons, and leaving behind 1/2 gallon when draining my boil kettle. My question is do i need to adjust the amount of grain for the recipe or just add more water. or...
I've been kicking around the idea of using copper instead of silicone. i was thinking 1/2" with unions so I could disassemble and clean with brushes if I needed to. Is there any drawbacks other than not being able to see through it. Would you have to leave some water in the lines to prevent...
I am getting close to finishing my single tier setup. I have 3 kegs with weldless bulkheads ordered 1 each for drains. I have 1 march pump on hand already. My budget is about up so I'm not sure what to order.
1. silicone tubing 1/2IDx3/4OD usplastic 2.10 p/ft. (from reading posts it's well...
I have been reading around and I cant figure out if I really need sight tubes and thermometers in all the vessels. how do you know how much you've added or collected without guessing? I have done about 3 batches and I want to get more accurate. also will the grain in MT throw off the reading of...
Fell off brewing after traveling with my job and having our first baby. Now hopefully I'll have some open weekends to get back into it. I have been on this site countless times and just decided to join after digging up my keggles and finding rust all around my fittings. Time to scrap them out...
I have searched the forums for awhile about rust and removing it. But my problem is I didn't use stainless coupling...and it rusted. I believe the couplings are "merchant couplings" (not galvenized). If all the rust is removed with a stainless wire wheel will it be ok to use?
