    Favorite Wisconsin Beer

The Belgian Red from New Glarus is just a little over the top for me... I do agree the style is cool, but it is too sweet to for my tastes.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm not brewing this weekend, but my Pecan Porter is getting bottled on Saturday. I'm going to the LHBS tomorrow, and knowing me plans will probably change when I get to digging around there...

Brew Masters on Discovery w/ Sam Calagione

I see plenty of mixed reviews on here, but overall I had a positive impression from the show. I dig Sam and his philosophy, and I think love him or hate him, if wasn't for him and others like him we wouldn't have such a great craft brew culture to take from. Also, when you think about it if...

    Favorite Wisconsin Beer

I just had O'so Rusty Red and I was impressed. I took a trip to festival and made a few mix-n-match six packs, and my friend just got a job doing some package design for them, so I bit. I hear a lot of good things, I gotta get up to plover and pick up a bunch from the brewery! Also, I wanted to...

    Favorite Wisconsin Beer

I'm a Wisconsin boy, and I do believe our state is gallon for gallon the best beer state in the country (Even counting the commercialized bland brews). So I was wondering, what is every Wisconsinite's favorite in-state brew? Even for those out-of-state, what do you like from America's Dairyland...

Wildwest's brew lean-to (my almost dream build)

Hey I just joined up a little while ago, and read up on the whole project. It's like you took my dreams and built them on the side of your house. To say I'm jealous is an understatement.

Anything You Wish You had Known

Great thread so far! I've only brewed a couple of batches so far, but here are some of the things I wish I knew right away: 1. Triple, quadruple, quintuple check everything. There is nothing worse then being in the middle of a brew day and needing to do or get something important 2. Ice is...

    Oshkosh Home Brewer

TxBrew - You're welcome, glad to be part of the community! crash - it's usually in march, but you'll probably see me talk about it more as it gets closer, lol. I think it might be on EAA's website as well

    Oshkosh Home Brewer

Hey folks, I've made few posts here, and lurked through my fair share of posts, but I felt it was time I introduced myself. I was born in Chicago, and raised in Milwaukee. I moved up to Oshkosh for school, and I fell in love with beer with my first trip to EAA's hops & props craft brew...

    Just finished my 2nd Batch!

Hey folks, I just put my second batch (a Pecan Porter) into primary. I just wanted to thank everyone on here for all the advice and the help! I went into it with a lot more confidence this time, and was a lot less worried about making a mistake (there were only a few this time lol) so...

    Sanitizing Question

Jt - Maybe I just got lucky on my first batch then lol, because it came with a small bag of one-step sanitizer Thank you to everyone for the help, I dropped my brew day back to make sure I had enough info, and I'm glad I came here!

    Sanitizing Question

it was for a batch of beer, sorry

    Sanitizing Question

Kind of a n00b question here... So I got a Brewer's best kit, but it did not come with the one-step sanitizer I am oh-so-comfortable with. I don't have any reservations about using bleach and rinsing (heavily of course) but I'm not sure if it really is safe in the brewing process and if it...

    Questions about priming

Yeah I went back and forth between what I knew how to do from my Mr. Beer beginnings (priming bottles individually) and trying out bulk priming. I went with bulk just to save me some hassle lol. Plus when I was brewing my first batch I found myself in a constant of fear and I could only imagine...

    Questions about priming

I figured as much, thanks for the info!

    Questions about priming

It isn't really an issue, just more of a curiosity. I primed my first brew for bottling by dissolving the sugar in water and pouring it into the brew, but I have a friend who started his first brew and he primed his by adding sugar directly into the bottle... I remember doing that method...

    First and secondary stage fermenters

That's probably what I'm going to do in the future as I really want to try secondary fermentation some time soon.

    First and secondary stage fermenters

Thanks for the reply. The bucket does not have a spigot on it. It is just a food grade bucket with a locking lid.

    First and secondary stage fermenters

I just purchased a home brewing kit and I am ready to make my first batch! I have a question though: My primary fermenter (the 12 gal food grade bucket) does not have an airlock attachment to it, e.g. a place for the stopper and airlock to sit in. Will this be an issue? Should I just use...
