    Need brewery/brewpub suggestions for Denver

Thanks for the advice!! I know there's way too much to cover in a couple short days, even without the sightseeing that has to be done.

    Need brewery/brewpub suggestions for Denver

Forgot about Great Divide. Stupid me. Rockyard might be a good stop on the way to Pikes Peak, not sure how I'll fit in Dry Dock... Thanks for the suggestions!

    Need brewery/brewpub suggestions for Denver

Going to Denver this weekend, and I want to see if there's any must do's that I'm missing. We'll have a car, so transportation is covered So far my plan is: Wynkoop Odell Avery New Belgium Left Hand Coors Oskar Blues Falling Rock We are also going to Pikes Peak, but have no idea what is near...

Amber Ale Kit to Pumpkin Ale

I would leave it in the primary for 4 weeks total, unless you have an additive planned for your secondary. The oil look might be from your cleaner.

Amber Ale Kit to Pumpkin Ale

You can do a couple of things depending on how you want it to turn out. I made a pumpkin ale using 30 oz of pumpkin puree that I added cinnamon to taste (not sure how much cinnamon). I tossed it in with 5 min left in the boil, and you can definitely tell that there is pumpkin in it. You...

My side-by-side conversion (yes, this fridge is old)

Got the shelves installed in freezer side. Due to the restriction in space at the front of the freezer I built each post with L brackets first, and then put it all together inside the freezer. The posts are 1x4 and the shelves are 1/2" mdf. The first shelf clears the top of the cooling...

    Mash paddle design check

The hard part is getting it under control, as the bit wants to run away from you. The best advice I can give you is to test it out first. Home Depot has cheap 1"x4" at either 6' or 8' that you can chop and experiment with. I use the cutting guide and wood saw bit. My first try was to buy the...

    Mash paddle design check

I made some changes to the design. Will this work better?

    Mash paddle design check

That's something that I hadn't considered. Would I be better off switching them or trying to find another one that is larger to put there so that I don't lose size on the top? I tried a variety of tools, but what ended up working the best was my dremel with a wood cutting bit. The hard...

    Mash paddle design check

Because I can, I've made this prototype for my mash paddle, but I am curious if it will be effective. I appreciate all opinions and comments. Thanks!

My side-by-side conversion (yes, this fridge is old)

I like your mood ring analogy! When I look at it and there is a range of temps, it does make me slightly suspicious. However I normally keep a standard thermometer nearby and measure against air temp. Not that it's perfect, but it does give a range. Temp differences make sense, but I'm not...

My side-by-side conversion (yes, this fridge is old)

I spent time using ice water to try and get it right, and I thought I had. Also, I used one of my spare buckets to test both getting to temp from lower and higher and it seemed to work fine. However, once I had it set and on the fermenter, there was a big difference between the fermometer and...

My side-by-side conversion (yes, this fridge is old)

I thought about this, but decided that seeing the wires was cool for me. If I ever change it or make a new one I'll either paint or use a colored material.

Thanks! Thought I could make use of otherwise dead space

My side-by-side conversion (yes, this fridge is old)

Here is a pic of the controllers at work. They do fight just a bit, but overall work well together. I am already fermenting an oatmeal stout in this, so I'll have to see how well I have done. Also, I am still working on the temp differential (F4 setting), as I am not entirely sure I have it...

    Fridge temperature control

Check out this thread about building an ebay temp controller. The difference between the ebay link posted earlier and the model used in the build thread is a matter of max amps. I modified my plans and used the controllers per the thread and have been happy.
