I'm considering buying one these also. Can any of you guys that have or use one tell me if there is a noticeable difference in carb level when can from keg and not using a counter pressure setup on the can?

    PicoPaks - REUSABLE?

Empty one of the containers (both grain and hops) fill them up with hydrostone to make a mold negative. Then vacuum form a sheet of hdpe to that. That should be fairly easy the id tag will be the issue. I need to take mine apart and see what they are using for the mcu. Really everything is...

    PicoPaks - REUSABLE?

Yea got it in yesterday not what i thought it would be made from. Im going to try to make a blank of the grain bin and the hop bin from an unused one and use some hdpe sheet to vacuum form a reusable setup. Only thing will be is I hope i can reuse the id sticker/holo tag thing so it will have...

    PicoPaks - REUSABLE?

I just orderd a pico pro (best buy has a 20% off promo right now) and was thinking the same thing. Are the packs some type of plastic (HDPE)? Im sure this will be done as the cost of the packs for clones are more expensive than buying the bottle beer itself.

    Equipment question

Yea just for primary. I have carboy for secondary even though mini brew states with a conical there is no need for racking to secondary. I probably will anyways.

    Equipment question

I have a mini brew 6.5 gallon conical fermenter and was wondering if it would work for a typical 30 bottle wine kit. Just ordered a Selection International Malbec kit and was planning on using my conical for it. What kinda of foaming (krausen ?) should I expect from wine compared to beer? At 6...

    over pitching yeast

This is something I have wondered about myself. So just to see what would happen I brewed up a 2 Gallon 1050 OG IPA and dumped in a full 11g package of Danstar Windsor (re-hydrated). I will update in 5 more days with my findings to that point and hopefully 7-10 days later with those.

    US-05 at 75 degrees ....

I pretty much use no other yeast except 05 and 04. Ferm at 72-74 and leave it on the cake for ~3 weeks. Never had any off flavors and always get great compliments on the beer. They are as posted above a very forgiving yeast especially giving time to clean up (in which 04 will make a brick in...

    Yeast Suggestion for Low Sulphur

Sanitation is good as always. Sulfur smell started within 3 days during fermentation . I have read on numerous forums that sulfur is common in lagered beer. There is a strain from White Labs that is low/no sulfur production but its for commerical use and not sold to individuals, cant recall the...

    Yeast Suggestion for Low Sulphur

I usually only brew ales and have only brewed one lager in my time of brewing. I could not ever really get the sulfur out. Even after 6 weeks there was still a hint of it. Beer was good just was always that hint of sulfur. Is there an available to homebrewer strain of lager yeast that is low...

    $3 Weldless Kettle Bulkhead

I weld copper to steel a lot in my trade (HVAC/R) the advice I would give you guys is get 55% silver flux rods( the orange ones) from your local a/c or plumber parts house. They are made to solder copper to steel. Make sure to clean the hell out of the area to be welded and use flux plus the...

It is a cream ale. Used White Labs Cali Ale 001. Well it tasted great just my first brew with a starter, been pitching directly from vial (with no issues) and decided Id try a starter. Did use Whirloc in it maybe that is its effect on it? Making sure, thx guys.

Strange (To me at least) Looking Yeast Cake

The entire yeast cake looked like this no hard muddy looking cake but this clump looking trub. This was done with a starter (1st starter ive done) and the hops were strained before dumping into primary. Is this normal? Before dumping into secondary and seeing this ,while doing a hydro on it and...

    Oxygen in the wort question

Well may have screwed the pooch unknowingly. I have an Aventius clone that I just racked from primary to secondary. I knew that it wasnt gonna be clear and when I brewed it didnt have any Irish Moss for the boil. So I decided that I would just do gelatin once I racked into secondary. Well I...

Any reason to go past target FG?

Well Im gonna take you guys word more especially for my higher G beers such as the Aventinus clone I have fermenting now. Of course if I can produce a good everyday beer (cream ale,IPA, etc)with the gelatin in 2 weeks while waiting even better lol. I did a great brown ale a few weeks back in 2...

Any reason to go past target FG?

Hate to get off subject but... Are you adding the gelatin into your secondary a few days before kegging? Then racking into keg for conditioning/force carbing?
