    Another skeeter pee question

What I did for a starter was puree 4 pounds of strawberries and put into 2, 1 gallon jugs. I made inverted sugar using 3 cups of sugar and a gallon of water. I then split the sugar water between the jugs of strawberry puree. Then I put a little energizer and nutrients and a pack and a half of...

    Adding LME after pitching...

I pitched it yesterday and took the gravity reading about 10 minutes later before any airlock activity. The kit was from midwest brewers and the paperwork says the OG should be 1.042-1.046 and the reading I took was right about 1.038. I now have airlock activity. I was hoping to get it around...

I live right up the street from there and go there about once a week. You can get about anything there! Well worth the trip if you've never been there

    Adding LME after pitching...

I have an irish stout kit going right now and I pitched it yesterday only to realize I didn't take a gravity reading. So I took one and it was low... So my question is can I get more LME and add it to the bucket to bring the gravity up or does it need to be boiled to become fermentable? I...

    Bottle carbing skeeter pee

Does anyone have any experience with it? My fear is by the time it clears it will be hard to bottle carb because of the harsh environment... Any thoughts or experience?

    Clear glass or plastic bottles

I can get amber plastic bottles locally but was hoping to get clear just for the fact that I have a strawberry pee and a regular one. Just was hoping to see the colors.

    Clear glass or plastic bottles

I'm trying to find a place that has clear glass bottles or for new 20oz plastic bottles. I have a batch of skeeter pee going and I'd like to put it in clear glass or preferably plastic. I like the plastic idea so I can carb it and then take it on the boat this summer. Glass on a boat = BAD...

    strawberry hard lemonaid

I read the skeeter pee recipe and like it but I like strawberry lemonaid better... So my thoughts are to get 2-3 pounds of frozen strawberries and pure them, add sugar and put them into gallon jugs. I would then pitch a pack of wine yeast on to each and let them get going. Once they were going...

    Adding OGs....

I want to do some hard lemon aid for summer but everywhere i read says to reuse a yeast cake off something fermenting...* My thought was to make up a gallon*strawberry "wine" then add that to 4 gallons of the "hard lemon aid" recipe when the strawberry stuff is going good. * My problem is...

    Which riesling kit...

So the GF loves riesling so I thought I'd make her a batch for her birthday this fall. Problem is I have never done a kit so I don't know which kit would make a good riesling for her... Any suggestions?!?

What to ignore in wine kit instructions?

Do the brake bleeder degassing. The fittings and hoses in the harbor freight kit couple right to the second port on a carboy cap. Just pull the air lock and cap that hole, hook the vacuum up to the other port and pull a vacuum. Works like a charm!!!

    stabilizing my wine

My plan was to not sweeten any of it till I open the bottles to drink. I like it dry but the GF likes it a little sweeter.... Is there anything I can add to give it some body? One batch is black cherry grape and the other is apple/cranberry/cherry/raspberry. Sounds like tons of flavors but it...

    stabilizing my wine

I have 2 - 5 gallon batches to bottle soon. They have both been racked off the lees and cleared naturally. My question is what to add to it at bottling to stabilize it? I typically add campdon and potassium sorbate at bottling but is there anything else I should/need to add for stabilizing...

Adding apple cocentrate to already fermenting apfelwein

I'm really just looking for a little more apple flavor. The dryness is fine by me but it needs some more apple for my likes.

Adding apple cocentrate to already fermenting apfelwein

I have a batch of apfelwein that is about 3 weeks into fermentation and I wanted to add some concentrate to make it more appley. Its still bubbling so is it safe to draw some of the must off, dissolve the concentrate in it and put it back into the carboy? OR do I wait till its done fermenting...

    Cheap Apple Juice at Walmart

I used Indian Summer apple cider and to date that is the best flavored apfelwein I have made. I caught it on sale for 2.99 a gallon and brought home 10 gallons. It must be a seasonal thing because I can't find it anywhere now.

    Anyone carbonate Welch's juice wine?

If the airlock is moving the yeast are working. A hydrometer is a cheap investment too. I'd highly suggest getting one to see what its reading.
