    Recipe Tips?

Is using whole leaf hops that much different than using pellet hops? The reason I ask is that I get my ingredients from Austin Homebrew, and they do not offer Centennial in pellet form, so I am thinking of going with whole leaf... thoughts?

Have any of your homebrews made you gag?

I wouldn't necessarily say I gagged... but my 1st personal recipe, 1st AG batch has so far unimpressed me to the point that it is non-drinkable. Gave me the baby "eww" face. Tasted like yeast and water with a little bit of something disgusting.

    Recipe Tips?

Thanks Ravenshead... the only reason I have waited this long has been due to a move. I have moved to an apartment with an electric stove and so I was unsure about how I was going to be able to brew since our apartment does not allow grills/outdoor flames on balconies or patios. I am going to...

    Recipe Tips?

Would that still fit an Amber? Because that is what I am going for... I currently have an APA that is bottle conditioning at an absurdly slow rate. May be a scrapper, but decided to move on an try an Amber Ale

    Recipe Tips?

This is what I have been concerned with... I wanted to do an outdoor brew setup, but unfortunately grill/burner laws in apartments are a real drag, so I am going to do my best. So far with cooking my stove has been incredibly efficient, boiling normal size boils in a matter of minutes. I believe...

    Recipe Tips?

So... little to no Carapils, less crystal, and some hops to finish off? Maybe a different yeast?

    How Long Do You Wait?

In an unrelated question... does anyone know if an outdoor burner is against apartment grill laws? I will be living in an apartment and there are laws against grills near apartments. I most likely can't brew on our electric stovetop so want to brew outside on an outdoor burner... will this be...

    How Long Do You Wait?

It isn't really a big beer. It is an APA. My mash temp was 154, following DeathBrewer's stovetop All-Grain process. I haven't brewed anything else because, at the moment, we are getting ready to move to another apartment and so I am trying to save some money for the move before I purchase my...

    How Long Do You Wait?

How long do you allow the beer to age before you call it a wash? I have my first personal recipe and first all-grain batch at that. It has been aging for about 5 weeks. My first taste, at 2 weeks in bottles, was watery/yeasty. After taking advice from the boards, I allowed it to sit for...

    Wedding Beer Plans/Help

Yeah, I'm not planning on brewing it yet. I am trying to plan the beer out so I get the recipe correct and get the timing down. I was thinking probably January or February being the brewing time.
