Ok, so I switched over to a 75 watt bulb in a paint can for the heat source. Even with that it would overshoot to temp and kick the freezer on, so I added two 5 gallon buckets of water, and taped the sensor to the outside of one of them. Seems to work like a charm now, hasn't overshot the temp...

No its empty other than the jug o water. I had the sensor hanging in mid air, and the fluctuation was much more rapid that way, the water takes it a lot longer. The only reason I'm running it empty is to see how everything acts, and to try to fine tune things. Maybe I will fill a fermenter...

I think I will have to try a different heat source, this one seems to overshoot it every time. I have heard the reptile heaters work good, I'm thinking about building a paint can heater as another option.

So, I just got my STC-1000 wired up in my old chest freezer. Everything works as it should, it kicks the heat on, and the freezer on when it should. Ive been wathching it all day today as ive ben working out in the garage, the air temp in the garage is roughly 60 degrees. I have the controller...

Does anyone have any recommendation for a heat source? I have a chest freezer I'm gonna use, it can fit 6 carboys/buckets, so its rather large.

I see on the spec sheet it say 32 degrees is on the bottom of its operating range. I plan on leaving my ferm chamber in my garage where it can dip below zero in the winter. I need to lnow if its ok to mount externally, otherwise i will put it a box and moint the whole thing inside the chamber.

I live just out of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, and I either buy my stuff at Northern Brewer, or Midwest Supplies. I've had great luck with both, and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

I was at my LBHS today and the girl behind the counter had a tattoo of a pint of beer on her arm, and one other time a guy had a hop cone on his leg. I thought they were both cool, but then again I don't mind tattoos. Do any of you people have a beer or brewing related tattoo?

I picked these up at a car show today. I plan on using them as tap handles. They are some kind of emblem off a Lincoln. I'm not sure what year or model though, I've never seen em before. The Lincoln fits well because I always drive a Lincoln, and have customized many of them.

These are cool, I would have liked to find an IH fridge. What does the handle look like?

Small little update, I plugged it in and it fired right up, its now been cooling for about a day, and all seems well, so on with the build. Krenshaw it will hold two ball lock kegs, and a co2 bottle, wih maybe some room for a six pack. It should be perfect for the garage.

I'm 6'2" and weigh roughly 180 lbs. I eat fairly healthy, and run a 5k (3.2 mi) every day after work. I drink about a beer a night, and tend to skip a couple days a week drinking.
