Will this contactor/relay work for my intended setup?

I'm going to just make life easy on myself and buy the 120v options, and return the 240v options. Done and done. Thanks!

Will this contactor/relay work for my intended setup?

Considering the parts I've purchased mimic Kal's site almost to a T (minus the 50a shunt for the power meters), what would you recommend? Keep the 240's and buy one more to give me a trio of 240v coils, or return the 2 and buy 3 120v coils for about the same price + shipping of the third 240v...

Will this contactor/relay work for my intended setup?

I was hijacking PJ's Diagram thread with questions, so I'm moving out here to a new thread. I am modeling my build after Kal's TheElectricBrewery. Same elements, same SSRs, and in my attempt to purchase DPDT relays, I picked these up...

Or I could keep the 240v and use it as the incoming power to the keyed on/off panel switch, and buy 2 of the 120v coils from Amazon and use those to control my elements?

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

PJ's diagram says "240v-30A / 120v coil", so does TheElectricBrewery.com instructions. I bought 2 of these, and need a 3rd: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_31&products_id=403 Wondering if I'd be better off buying the 3rd, or if I'd be better off returning...

I accidentally bought the 240v coil DPDT relays... I'm going to have to return them and get the 120v coil DPDT relays, aren't I...?

Would you stick with the 30a circuit breaker in the wall panel with the 5500w elements, or should I look at a 40a breaker?

P-J: I'm just going to use the 2 PIDs I think, with one in Manual Mode. The SSVRs I saw are almost prohibitively expensive. If I'm using the 5500w elements and 40a SSRs, should I use the 30A DPDT relays, or should I go for the 40A DPDT relays?

Thanks P-J, that's exactly what I was hoping for, will check out post 391. What are you using to make the diagrams btw? Best of luck with the OS update! Sent from my SM-N900V using Home Brew mobile app

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

P-J: I can't even begin to tell you how helpful your diagrams have been in trying to develop my own e-brew plans. I was trying to sketch something out like your diagrams, but it's not going so well. Like many others here, I probably know just enough to get myself in trouble. I was hoping I...

    Thinking about going electric...

It's starting to look like the big investment will be getting the power run. Been talking with a guy in my club who does electric, and he has a whole ton of parts laying around for work, so in about two weeks going to go check out his setup as he makes a Barleywine (and probably stay to help...

    Thinking about going electric...

Yep, good call on the 3 position switch. I completely forgot to put any switches aside from the key start and emergency stop on my list...that would have made for a frustrating build-day...

    Thinking about going electric...

I forgot to include the two on-off switches for the Heating Elements. I could toss in another PID w/ probe to control the temp, but I've had friends who e-brew say that I really don't need to monitor the BK...just let it go. 2 on-off switches going to 2 SSR's w/ heatsinks going to 2 heating...

    Thinking about going electric...

Tons of info all, thanks a bunch for the feedback and suggestions! It looks like I'm going to need: GFCI Circuit Breaker Control Panel Enclosure 2x Heating Elements (3800w 240v, probably) and waterproof enclosures 2x 40a SSR + Heatsink 1 PID w/ temp probes (for HLT, not necessary for...

    Thinking about going electric...

I suppose I could even just start with the heating elements, and a control panel with 3 switches and 3 40a SSR w/ Heatsink...I can check temp with my weldless thermometer and just manually cycle the power to the elements and pump as needed... Are there going to be any downfalls of doing that...

    Thinking about going electric...

Ok, so if I go by Kal's guide and the current parts pricing, I can get: 2 heating element setups for ~$120 and 2 temp probe setups for ~$80. His control panel is mega-pimped out IMO...and way more than I would need at the start of my foray... Any suggestions or parts list for what I could...

    Thinking about going electric...

I'm thinking about going from propane to electric, and I need help. I'm looking around at all of the threads and, to be quite honest, I'm getting overwhelmed - so I'm reaching out for some individualized feedback. What would be the minimum requirement of hardware to go from propane to...

Petition for TTB to revise "Mead" definition, from Ken Schramm

I can't say for sure why he doesn't frequent HBT more often, but I know he's hard at work making delicious mead. Last I heard from him, he had been bottling for ~2 days, and was offline for that duration. He shared his original request on the AMMA Facebook group page...

Petition for TTB to revise "Mead" definition, from Ken Schramm

All: Ken Schramm, author of the Compleat Meadmaker, is petitioning the Tax and Trade Bureau to redefine how they classify "mead". As it stands, the recipe formulation is off and allows for beverages that aren't even made of 50% honey to be called "mead" which favors people who make mead with...
