Since I live in Florida, my A/C never really goes below 77F in order to have a reasonable electric bill so I never really get to ferment my ales at suggested temperatures like 60-72F.
Lagers are pretty much out of the question for me too which is a bummer.
Will my beer taste better when...
Not sure, I just saw a medium crystal grain on NortherBrewer and the description is fairly similar to the caramel40L - I'll probably get rid of that and the roasted barley like you mentioned. Thank you for the advice!!
Yeah I was thinking the same thing really. Do you have any recommendations on what I should lose while keeping the overall rye theme with darker flavors?
Hey everyone,
I'm really interested in small batch brewing. I was wondering if there are unique/special carboys and other equipment designed specifically for this.
If so, could you provide a link or reference on where to shop online?
Thanks,
Brady
Hey everyone,
I've been wanting to make a rye pale ale (extract) that has serious hop kick and some darker things going on with it.
Here's what I have so far - any suggestions/comments would be much appreciated:

5 Gallons
10# Rye Malt Syrup
.75# Rye Malt
.75#...
I also just found that OG x percentage of old amount in new amount will get you the answer quick too:
.06 (OG) x .8 (4 gallons now in 5 gallons) = .048
good ol math
Hey all,
I added 1 gallon of water to my 4 gallons of wort (that read 1.060).
I was wondering what effect this will have on my OG of 1.060 now that I added water.
Thanks,
Brady
Interesting. I'm definitely going to look into a chest freezer.
I'm surprised that there isn't a specific product for that. Would any of you be interested in buying something like that if it did exist?
