    Ventmatic/Shirron Faucet Nozzles

Found this on another board: The different sized spouts are for different CO2 per vol levels. The 12.5mm spout is for 2.9+, 12mm = 2.6-2.9, 11.5mm = 2.3-2.5, and the 10mm is for 2.2 and under. They are used to further tweak the pour velocity. Hope it helps answer your question.:tank:

    AHS Blue Moon Clone

I highly suggest the Belgian White kit from AHS. It is really good and has more flavor than Blue Moon (which I like also) and is a more traditional belgian. It is a favorite on my block.:mug:

    Kolsch Questions

Kolsch does not need to be lagered, unless you brew with a lager yeast. As long as you are using an ale yeast you should be fine.

    Fat Tire clone (good)

AHS has an excellent FT clone. It is one of my 'always have' brews. I brew the extract version, but AHS offers all kinds.

    Good Kits?

I think you're right to do some kits initially. They will make the switch to all grain easier. If you are planning on a few kits AHS is a good deal. ($6 shipping no matter the order size, but kit prices are a little higher tham others.) NB has great prices on kits, but sometimes hipping adds...

    Fat Tire...

I too, enjoy the AHS Fat Tire clone. I have heard from more than one person it tastes like Fat Tire did a few years ago before they ramped up production. What you get today is, as previous post attest, a very inconsistent product. At least what I brew is tasty!:rockin:

    Shirron or Perlick?

They are not the same. Perlick is a cast product and Shirron/Ventmatic are machined. There is an excellent comparison of the two at www.brewboard.com/index.php?showtopic=44134 Both are superior to standard faucets, but the Shirron seems to be a better made.

    My Custom Kegerator

It keeps beer plenty cold (Can freeze it if you don't use the lock and your 2 year old turns it to the coldest setting!) A lot of Danby units are designed for wine storage and aren't made for beer cooling. :rockin:

C02 Regulator on Ebay - too good?

I got a similiar unit on Ebay and switched out the guages for 0-60 ones. Haven't had any problems. That is an even better deal than the $40 I paid. I really like having the dual regulators.:rockin:
  12. DG Paul

    deal?

I would say that is a pretty good deal. A great deal if the regulator works okay. I would go for it.:mug:

    My Custom Kegerator

The CO2 is in a storage space under the stairs right behind the fridge. Access is through a hole cut in the drywall from my furnace room since the area under the steps was not finished as storage. The glass door is standard on the Haier Beverage fridge. (179 from Sam's). I like it because...

    secondary????????????

After my first couple of brews I switched to using a secondary all the time. It does help the beer clear more. I go about three weeks from brew day to bottling/kegging and like to get it out of the primary after around 7-12 days once fermentation settles down. :mug:

    My Custom Kegerator

Just took a tap handle topper, drilled out the cheapy handle, and epoxied it on. I didn't want anything bigger.:mug:

Adding hops directly in to the wort

They will settle out during fermentation. It shouldn't really effect your finished beer.

How much StarSan can you drink and still not die?

And it makes your intestines sparkling fresh.

    Bring on your Summer Beers!

I have plenty of Belgian Wit ready and am going to brew NB's Honey Kolsch recipe just for summer.
