When should I take a gravity reading to see if any fermentation has stopped? Or should I just wait and open the ferminator up and measure on bottling day?

I know that Alabama has ABC stores. (Alcohol Beverage Control) state run stores. Other than that Winn-Dixie and Publix's . Not aware of a good beer store, I usually by some beer from Publix.

Great info Revvy. I went to my LHBS and he said that using a secondary was a good practice, so I guess it is an opinion thing weather to use a secondary. I have also read secondary's are helpful for clarifying your beer. (I do not think that will be a issue, starting with Brown ales stouts etc)

Busch, from my College days. It was $5.00 for a twelve. Now I would have to say PBR at home in Kentucky, but I do go down to Alabama's Gulf Coast and there is a hole in the wall place I like on the beach. I get boiled shrimp and a pitcher of Yuengling. (Cannot get Yuengling in Kentucky :()

I was wondering: I am looking at starting and buying a beginners kit. Does bleach and water work well for sanitation or should I go with EasyClean or StarSan. I have heard bleach leaves a Band-Aid taste. thanks
