    Thinking about trying BIAB...

You must have a much better pot than I do (or thicker blankets). When I do the one pot method I will lose about 15-20 degrees over and hour. I would not care about less than 5 degrees change.

    Thinking about trying BIAB...

I have been doing BIAB for about 1.5 yrs now and would recommend using an ice chest to do the mash in. Screw all the one pot nonsense, yes its less transferring, but its a pain having to make sure the temp is correct, heating it up, then checking it over and over. With an ice chest It will hold...

    What's YOUR bug limit?

Well played, If it were me on a brew day with no backup plan, I am pretty sure I would just say "**** it, its gonna boil" and proceed onward. Although I still may at least shake the bag out pretty well.

    1st All-Grain - Disaster?

Did the same thing and I am still alive. When I did it, I just moved to a secondary (which I normally don't out of laziness) and then moved to a different container to bottle. Each time leaving a bit extra in the bottom. The glass and other crap will sink so it didn't get moved. I also made...

    Cider

Wow, I didn't realize how far off I was. Thanks. I am gonna give it a try without the sugar and honey and hope it is drinkable in time. If not then, o well.

    Cider

I am still fairly new to the brewing scene (only 3 batches in) and I am looking to make an apple cider. (hopefully for the christmas holidays) I found this recipe (http://beerrecipes.org/showrecipe.php?recipeid=896) which calls for 5 gallons, sweet cider 3 pounds, brown sugar 3 pounds...

    Couple Newbie Questions

I have now done 2 batches, 1 ready to pop open this weekend and one just started fermenting on Sunday. The first batch seemed to ferment very quickly, activity only lasted about 3 days, but I still waited the 2 weeks. I tasted it a few days after bottling and it still tasted decent, not...

    Howdy and Thanks

Howdy from Corpus Christi, Texas. I just wanted to so thanks HBT. There is so much good information here and it really helped when I started my first batch this week. I don't think it would have gone so well without you guys! Thanks everyone!
