    My Portable 2-Keg Bar/Kegerator

Thanks. I got them here: http://www.barproducts.com/index.php?link=/media/shakermat.htm They're only $2.50, so buy a couple and swap them out when you clean them.

    Why all grain?

Disregarding the apparent contradiction in these two sentences (I know what you mean, and appreciate the admission that you can make great beer with extract), this is also assuming everything else is equal. Personally, I found the large number of variables inherent to all grain (water...

    Why all grain?

Just to give a minority opinion... I've done about 40 batches all told, and went to all-grain after doing just 3 extract brews because I'm extremely cost conscious and wanted to brew from scratch, like the pros. I acquired all the gear, learned the technique, and made about 20 all grain batches...

Seeking opinions: adequate for CO2 distribution?

Hmmm... thanks for the replies guys. I'm now wondering how small the barbs are. This photo from another listing makes me think the diameter is quite small. Not sure how much that would effect functionality, and/or how to achieve a step down from standard regulator barbs. Air pump tubing...

Seeking opinions: adequate for CO2 distribution?

So I'm thinking about switching from a mini fridge kegerator to something larger so I can chill and carb my on-deck kegs. While looking for deals on parts, I found this "aquarium" air/CO2 distributor on ebay. Setting aside the normal slam on parts made/sold in Hong Kong, and assuming I am not...

Keira means Dark in Gaelic, so maybe an easy drinking Guinness clone? Or an Irish Red, or something?

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Haven't used mine yet but if you look at the PDF linked in the ebay auction, the flow port is just shy of 1" (.96). Hoping that is large enough.

General Q re: use of Conical

Yes, but I'm seeing mixed reports about how sanitary and easy to clean DIY rotating racking arms are, not to mention the extra expense. I think I like LordUlrich's solution the best, but I'm wondering at this point how much I gain by going to a conical at all... Samc... were these issues...

General Q re: use of Conical

So I'm about 75% finished with my plastic conical build, which I started because I scored two free 15g conicals on craigslist... anyway, I'm still trying to wrap my head around best practices for these things. So, obviously the conical part of the design allows me to dump trub and yeast and...

    Side-mounted ball valve placement?

Thanks. I guess that makes sense. If I offset the thermometer/sight glass to the left a little I will still be able see them when I rotate the pot so the valve is pointing right, and if I do ever move to a single tier system then valve won't be in the wrong spot.

    Side-mounted ball valve placement?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I was differentiating between front and side, not side and bottom. Most of the vessels I see have sight glass/therm/valve on the front, as you are facing them. I was thinking of putting my sight glass and therm on the front (between the handles) and valve on the...

    Side-mounted ball valve placement?

So I'm all set to finally install a ball valve and a sight glass/thermometer on my HLT, as part of moving towards a gravity fed all grain system (have been dumping whole pots of hot water for a while now and my back is done with it...) Anyway, it would make the most sense to install the ball...
