    Allagash Curieux Clone

Thanks for the quick replies, I was getting sorta worried. The smack pack has swelled and I have the wlp550 in about 1500 ml of starter. I guess I will just so another 600 ml of starter and dump in the smack pack.

    Allagash Curieux Clone

Mainebrew, I am going to be brewing this on Saturday. Did you dump both yeasts in the same starter or did you make two separate ones?

    Pubkeg plastic kegs?

The two I got were from left hand brewing company, and I think rogue uses these too.

    Pubkeg plastic kegs?

Personally I will still be using mine. It seems from reading the article that all these accidents happened when cleaning under pressure. On a home brew scale it seems more likely to screw the top off to clean & sanitize than to try to clean on place under pressure.

    Pubkeg plastic kegs?

Yep, they just screw right off without too much effort. You just have be careful when you reassemble them - they have a very thin oring that seals the top and you have to make sure you don't pinch it.

Is a 6-7.5 amp reciprocating saw strong enough to cut the top of a keg?

I just used the angle grinder for all three my kegs. I used a cut off disk to make a octagon and then I used a flap wheel to grind it into a circle. Took maybe 30 minutes start to finish.

    Disposable kegs - reusable?

I have one of these as well. I struggled to get these off at first, I tried channel locks and putting the top in a vise without any success. The trick to getting the top off is using a strap wrench like you use to take off an oil filter on your car. Once you get it started it just screws right off.

Do you really need a NEMA enclosure?

I guess if I go with kal kit it comes with the enclosure, but thanks for the replies. Any help is appreciated.

Do you really need a NEMA enclosure?

It'll be mounted on a wall away from the stand. I gained a healthy respect for electricity from 10 years of remodeling my dads house when I was a kid. I am lucky enough to have a father in law who was an electrician so I will be paying him in beer to help me run all the electrical in the...

Do you really need a NEMA enclosure?

The only thing I really worry about is finding a large enough flat area to put the heatsink on.

Do you really need a NEMA enclosure?

Hey guys, I was just wondering, do we really need a waterproof box rated for outdoor use when we are just going to punch holes and cut into these. I ask because my brother works in the surgical repair business and has access to large aluminum boxes called genesis boxes.

    Southern Tier Pumking Clone??

I mashed in at 158 but didn't heat up the pumpkin puree enough. When I added that it dropped the temp down to 149. It had been mashing for about 25 minutes at that point. I was able to raise the temp with some extra sparge water to 153.

    Southern Tier Pumking Clone??

I am fermenting this as well. I started at 1.084 and am down to 1.017 (8.78%)after 10 days. I had a 1.5 liter starter of wyeast 1469. It tastes great and I have experimented with the vanilla nut and butter extract. I think it does add the flavor of the pumpking or something close at any rate.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Marcb, if you don't mind my asking, where do you order the grains from and how much is it shipped?

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just made this with the leftover wort from a pumpkin ale. The ale was modeled after a Southern Tier Pumpking and I used fresh pressed cider from a local orchard. Can't wait to see how it turns out since it's the first time in 4 batches that I haven't used Motts

    Pubkeg plastic kegs?

I recently came into 2 of these from a local growler place. After taking them apart, these will easily be re-usable. It is basically a 5 gallon tap-a-draft with a sanke connection. By the way, to get the sanke top off use a strap wrench like the ones you use to change the oil filter on your car.

    Homemade Mash Paddle Pics

I had to cut off the tongue and groove and sand off the finish and the grooves on the back of the board.
