    Sparge Temperature for 2 Rinses?

Bandt9299....I agree with you. I usually split sparge along with mash out. 200 degree sparge water temp. for split sparges gets me 170ish. If i dont split, i go lower. After reading all your comments i may skip mash out all together and just do split sparges.

    Call me crazy...

Last night on my commute home I was doing some serious thinking. Stay up late to brew or get up early without much sleep to brew. I am a father of three young children and like to be involved. My brewing is a great hobby and i do not like it to get in the way of my daddy time. I decided this...

    DIY Christmas Gift

I couple years ago I received a capcatcher as a gift that magnetizes to my fridge. I Love it so much I wanted my brothers and brother-in-laws to all have one. I didn't want to buy one, because it says something positive when it is DIY. I started with a red oak board (my brother gave to me...

Show us your DIY stir plate!

Nothing fancy but the usual computer fan and magnets along with parts from radio shack. My jug has to be off center to get a full vortex. Could be my 9 V power supply. Not enough juice. Nice looking plates everyone. Very creative.

    Proud stir plate owner!

My first yeast starter on the stirp plate is going great. I love it. I will let it go all day and then put in the fridge to crash. I am brewing a homegrown/ wild hop IPA with my brother in law tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably do the same. My diy electrical has me a little worried to leave run when no one is home. Happy brewing

    Proud stir plate owner!

Not the best picture. I have a toggle switch and rheostat. I used youtube video by Yourbassman to assist in the wiring. I was using an old style soldering iron. I then wrapped electrical tape around everything. My only question is to glue the earth magnet to washer or not.

    Proud stir plate owner!

First time posting picture and unsure of how it will work. I made a stir plate recently with the help.of many past threads. Thank you. I used parts from radio shack and a power supply from home along with a salvaged cpu fan. It was easy enough after reading and watching videos. Can't wait to put...

I just recently had the Summit Saga IPA which I found to be one of the tastiest IPA's that I have had in a while. I did some forum searches and internet searches with no luck. Anybody try this beer? What did you think? Possible all grain recipe suggestions? Thanks all

    Amber Bock Ale Version???

It still doesn't taste as smooth as a real lager but it is tasty. Took a while to carb up. I think my yeast was slow from cold ferment. I would definitely brew this again only with more hops. Good call on using an English yeast. Should be good!
