Screw on caps - 1/2 gal jugs?

I should have been more specific, the bottle is glass with a screw on cap that has about 3 rows of threads on it. It's like a Carlo Rossi wine bottle with the fingerhole on the top. I was wondering if I'd have any pressure problems with that cap. I got peach juice from a local farm cuz the...

Screw on caps - 1/2 gal jugs?

Has anyone ever used 1/2 gal juice jugs to bottle? I have a couple farm bought juice jugs with screw on caps & I'm a bit short on regular bottles. If anyone's used them & had any success, I sure would like to hear about it. I've heard that the Grolsh style bottles don't seal well long term...

    Sister Star of the Sun

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's been a few since I've been on. To follow up on the progress, the beer turned out pretty well to this point. It's REAL pungent but I expect it to mellow. I goofed on the aroma hops. They were sposed to go in while the wort was cooling but I got caught up...

    Sister Star of the Sun

I'm going to do a concentrate with a three gallon boil & top it up to 5 gallons in the primary. I have 4oz of the Chinooks so I'll bump that up as you mentioned but I'll still need to grab another can of malt. I'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow night...thanks for the input!!

    Sister Star of the Sun

I'd much appreciate it. I'd like to get all the ingredients so I can get this batch fired up on Friday. I was looking at ProMash ($25 I think) but I wanted to get a little experience before I start buying everything I come across.

    Sister Star of the Sun

Ladies & Gents, I'm planning on making a batch of SSoS for my second brew ever. I have the recipe below. I am just wondering if anyone has made this before. It lists 13 lbs of malt. Most recipes I've come across call for ~6 to 7 lbs of malt. I'm going to be subbing Muntons LME for the Hugh...

    ISO 30+Qt kettle

I'm starting with extract on my kitchen stove & leave it to the new guy not to know what AG is (all grain?). I picked up all the rest of the stuff tonight then decided to wait till tomorrow to brew so I can watch the Flyers but it turns out they're getting spanked by Buffalo, badly. Before I...

    ISO 30+Qt kettle

Thanks for all the feedback. I went out to a restaurant supplier & got a 24qt today. The next size up they have is the 40qt. I'm probably going to head back & swap mine out for the bigger size. The last thing I want to do is clean up boil-over. It will also be nice to have if I make bigger...

    ISO 30+Qt kettle

I'm looking to get started brewing. Anyone know a store chain where I can get a 30qt kettle from? I tried K-Mart, Walmart, Target & Sears but only got chuckles from the staff when I told them what size I was looking for. I'm eager to get started and the closest homebrew store is quite a...
