    UV Sanitizer tube for RIMS?

any idea if this would make a good RIMS tube? it's 15" long and has 1/2" inlet/outlet. I'm not sure of the element opening and I think there's a quartz sleeve that I need to remove but it seems like a decent deal for $65...

What does Automated Brewing mean to you?

When you think about automated brewing what does it mean? It seems that to some people automated brewing is a RIMS or HERMS system that automatically maintains the mash temp but everything else, including mash step timing is automated. To others it's the PicoBrew Pico. There is so much...

Who REALLY wants to sell their homebrew.

I was thinking about a business idea and thought I'd run it past the brewers here. There are a lot of great threads from the HBTer's who have gone nano-commercial. I was wondering how many of the brewers here would actually put up the money to make a beer if they were responsible for really...

    Keg Tags

Anyone else make Keg tags? I just printed up a bunch on business card stock and laminated them. I used a laminating pouch larger than the cards and punched a hole in the extra plastic. Just run a zip tie through the hole and attach it to the keg lid bail. I used a dry erase pen to write the...

    first all grain session

Well, it took way too long for me to try all grain brewing. I was going to start a couple years ago but just as I was getting my 10gal round cooler MLT parts I ran out of time. Since then I've squeezed in a couple extract brews but nothing worth talking about. Finally I decided to make...

    Laminating or paneling a keezer

I am considering attaching wood to the outer skin of my keezer. I have heard some people suggest that the outer metal skin is used to dissipate heat and that applying a laminate or wood directly on the metal could shorten the life of the keezer. I am having a difficult time understanding...

    Beersmith Mash temperature attenuation Q.

I am just getting ready to start AG brewing. I was plugging some AG recipes in beersmith and the FG estimates didn't change with different single infusion Mash temperatures. Is there a setting I need to be turning on to have it alter the FG based on Mash temperature? I did set the recipe...

    Split Door Tower Keezer.

I have a keezer and right now I am using cobra faucets. I want to put Perlicks on but I am really not a fan of having to stoop to pour from a tap. I also don't want to beat my faucets and tower, by mounting them to the top door. Soooo.... I was wondering if anyone has built a keezer and cut...

    Deadly Diacetyl

Saw this on TV and first thing I thought of was diacetyl in beer. (I used to love Rolling Rock) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070905/ap_on_bi_ge/popcorn_lung_conagra_10

    keg thefts from brewers

Looks like major brewers are starting to lose kegs due to the high cost of stainless. I guess brewers are not the only ones keeping kegs with a deposit on them. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/disappearing_kegs;_ylt=AlYKcsrRS6Em47MfI3Hpuvphr7sF

    Too much good beer

Damn. We went on our regular trip up to Wine Country. On the way home we stopped in Santa Rosa and visited Vinnie at Russian River. The music was too loud for my son so we had to skip on munchies there. I did manage to fill up a growler on the way out though. Now I have 2 liters of Pliny...

    Trader Joe's beer

I picked up some of Trade Joe's Vintage Ale a couple days ago and I was surprised to see Unibroue imprinted on the cork. I have also heard that the other Trader Joe's beers are made by Gordon Biersch. Anyone know if this is the case? Also, if anyone has tried all the TJ beers, how do...

    Hop Back

Anyone use a hop back? I would really like to do something to help with the break material and trub that invariably gets into my fermenter. I also really really like lots of hop aroma and almost always dry hop as well. So.... anyone want to share their hop back designs and experiences?
