    Oregon Red Raspberry Puree?

So this is going to sound like a really stupid question, but hey... it is a Beginners' forum, right? How runny is Oregon Red Raspberry Puree? In particular, will it run through a kind of narrow funnel into my carboy or am I going to spend the next three months putting it in a teaspoon at a...

Brewing A Saison - Stalled Yeast/rack to seconary/add belgian candi sugar

So you left that very neutral - some do strain, some don't. However, I suspect you and/or others have experimented with both ways. Is there a noticeable difference in flavor/head/color/mouth feel/miles per gallon etc. when you strain out or rack before moving into primary? If so, what is it? No...

    Is my starter "done enough"?

Thank you ALL for your help... this morning I awoke to see a wonder Krausen sitting happily on my beer. I took option (1) above, FWIW. One thing that bit me was this was the first time I had used a carboy (previously I was using a plastic fermenter from Coopers) and the new equipment screwed me...

    Is my starter "done enough"?

Okay, so I've been reading in the forum for a while, and decided this whole starter thing has something to it. So I figure, okay, I'll make a starter. I'm brewing an AHS Belgium Pale Ale with WLP550. Last Tuesday, the package arrived, and sat in the sun all day, so my yeast was HOT when I...

Anyone know the rough IBU contribution for a Bee? N.

    Coopers Lager Kit Question

Yes, the Coopers kit was where I started. It's not a great lager by any means (nor a real lager), but most of the BMC folks who have tasted it say it's better than what they buy from the stores (not high praise, I know, but nevertheless). I'd say brew it. It does improve with age - I have a few...

Christmas is coming... what to brew?

Of course, you're bang on about the temperature. I do want to find a beat up chest freezer to convert for lagering, but until I do, I'm a little stuck. Blugh... hence my tendency to make darker ales where I can slide by. No lagers for me until I find a way to make a cooler. I'll try the water...

Christmas is coming... what to brew?

So looking at my calendar, I see that Christmas is slowly creeping up, and as I do the math, I realize that for Best Holiday Beer Results(tm), I should think about getting something in my fermenter NOW for peak drinking over the Holidays. I may even be a little late, come to think of it. I...

Why am I the only one who can taste this off taste?

Yeah, that's how it is for me too. I taste my latest IPA and know what it's lacking, but everyone that drinks it (that DOESN'T homebrew) says it's the best IPA they've ever had. I think both of those opinions are probably true. :mug: N.

    AHS Session Series Brown Porter

As I didn't see much about this kit in the forums, so I thought I'd just close this thread out by letting folks know how it turned out... the answer is AWESOME. Pitched at 74F, fermented for 10 days at about the same temperature. OG 1.055, FG 1.012. Bottled a little while ago, and had the first...

    Newbie here with some questions!

I started with the Coopers kit, and it's not a horrific fermenter - for thirty bucks, I reckon you could do worse. I've made the Coopers kits, and extract plus specialty grains in it, and always been happy enough with the results. Like a few folks have said, you'll probably end up buying more...

How do you chill your wort?

That's kind of my experience yes - my cold tap certainly runs warm here in FL... N.

    AHS Session Series Brown Porter

Thanks - that helps a great deal! I knew the information would be on here somewhere, but didn't know where to look! N.

    AHS Session Series Brown Porter

First, this is a great forum - been lurking for a while... lots of helpful information here... thank you! Now, the reason I have de-lurked (?) myself. I have always made Coopers kits but have decided to explore some specialty grain kits. I bought the AHS Session Series Brown Porter (Extract)...
