    Element Heat Control

I just finished building one of these, and am happy to say it works great. I'm going to try to put together a list of components with links (the hardest thing to find/most expensive part was the box!)

    New Homebrew supply in Dover

Hello, We are open from 11 til 7 Monday to Saturday, 11 til 3 on Sunday. We did have a problem earlier, where the ladies from the hair salon would lock the front door when they left, not realizing that we were still open. Also, you can enter and exit the store via the red steps on the north end...

    electric biab setup

karalaok, no, the basket does not rest on the element..there's a lip below (a couple inches i guess, never measured it) the rim of the pot that the rim of the basket rests on. there's about 3 1/8" of space between the bottom surface of the basket and the bottom of the pot, i put the element...

    electric biab setup

@ruralbrew - great suggestion, I may try that...my concerns (without having tried it yet) are that the sparge water will just spill out the holes in the basket, as they will be above the sides of the pot, and that heating more water will be a logistical issue. But I'll check it out next brew...

    electric biab setup

I recently completed my electric biab setup. I've brewed two 10 gallon batches with it, and thought it might be worth sharing. I used the following: electric brewpot: 15.5 gal Bayou Classic brewpot with basket (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FTEQBK/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00) 4500w...

    My Official E-BiaB Build Thread

noise, are we talking about the same thing? the 1 3/8 step bit i'm ok with, it's the "radio punch" that i think might be a bit of overkill, since you'd need to buy one for each size hole. how many of the radio punches did you buy? by my estimate i'd need two, one for the element and one for the...

    My Official E-BiaB Build Thread

great job, thanks for posting this, it's exactly what i want to do...how did you cut the holes in the pot for the heating element and temp probe? although kal's site strongly recommends not using a hole saw, and using the hole cutter, the hole cutter is $80 bucks...kinda steep for something i'll...

    Electric Boil Kettle?

I've been pondering this same question. I plan to use two 2000w elements; use two to get it to boil, one to maintain boil for ~8 gals, but not sure if that will work. Maybe put a temp controller (ssr-pid) on one so that you can add a little heat if needed, in addition to the first being full on?
