Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Yeah, I didn't detach the butterfly racking arm after my first batch and even with the CIP cart, it had some yeast in it due to the design. Once I saw what you're seeing, I now fully break down and detach all values and connections. I leave them in the CIP acid wash for a bit and then leave...

That'd probably work, I was just duplicating the original setup.

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Got it working! First lesson, make sure the butterfly valve faces away from the conical. Second lesson, use the sampling port to pressure release, the hot water adds some steam. Third, clamp down the lid, or it will leak, glad I learned that with water and pbw. Fourth, plumber tape for the...

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Well, almost got it all but undercounted the number of 1.5" clamps needed. Brewhardware to the rescue. Per the picture, needed 11 1.5" clamps, only had 7 between the chronical and what I added to the initial order. And I was missing a second 1/2" FPT to 1.5" Tri-clover for the pump...

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Just called Curtis and he said they hope to have it easier to find but for now, one can go directly to the SKU here: https://www.brewershardware.com/TC15TEE-OFFSET.html I've got a 1/2 barrel BME Chronical arriving today, and hopefully the CIP parts by end of the week! :ban:

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Thanks for sharing; that's a super important tip given the thinner walls of the homebrew versions. Even at the commercial level, vacuums can ruin a conical. I wonder if one could apply positive air pressure through the sampling port, like 1 PSI or something like that.

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

Answering my own question. I think this would do it: https://www.brewershardware.com/1.5-Tri-Clover-X-1-2-Female-NPT.html and then into: https://www.brewershardware.com/1-1.5-Tri-Clover-X-1-2-Hose-Barb-90-Bend.html

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

One more part question, on the top the CIP Spray ball from SS has a 1/2 MPT, but in your picture, it looks like you have a TC elbow ... what parts did you used to convert the 1/2" MPT back to TC Elbow ?

Thanks! Glad to know I'm not blind, couldn't see anything like that part.

Do you have a link to the offset tee fitting? I took a look at the TC Tees on brewersharware but I didn't see one like in your picture. btw, super impressed with this setup and definitely makes me super excited to get the BME Chronical. Thanks for all of your posts!

    Blichmann BrewEasy temp probe issue?

Friend of mine got a breweasy, electric version and this exact issue came up. The autosparge is trouble becuase there isn't any way to tell if it's open or closed without taking the lid off the mashtun or constant monitoring of liquid levels. This resulted in the boil kettle heating the other...

    Sour Stout

Check your AA value on your hops. You will need to increase the amount of hops to match the desired IBUs.

    Sour Stout

Look at your hop AA value. Some of my EKG is stronger. Other factors include your utilization value in your equipment and gravity of your boil.

Yep! EKG works really well at that level.

    Sour Stout

My original goes way way back to the OG recipe that they shared with Austin Homebrew Supply. It was meant to be a *monster* stout, so it was always double digit ABV, massively hopped (Jeff and crew like hoppy beers) and using Dry English Ale yeast, which for such a massive grain bill can use...

    Brett Strain production of ATHP

Yes, it look approximately a year in the bottle for it to disappear. I honestly never thought it would, but as with many things beer; time heals wounds. That said, I apply a number of techniques to minimize the amount of time it takes for ATHP related flavors to subside: 1) minimize...

    Brett Strain production of ATHP

It can occur any time you have sugar + O2 and ATHP producing specimen. For most folks, bottling time is where one would get the most exposure to oxygen (racking from carboy into bottling bucket) and adding priming sugar; the exact ingredients when ATHP occurs. But nothing prevents it from...
