Step-by-step for using BIAB method with an Anvil Foundry

Spoiler alert... Myself and John Blichmann wrote them. Palmer and Blichmann formulated the minerals table though... which is a brilliant and un-sung work.

SS brew tech grain mill review

I don't understand why they trusted an electronic motor control for an application like this. That component has to work and the giant power supply which doesn't store away easily.

    Blichmann Beer Gun Leaking Bad

Check to make sure that the o-ring is installed inside the muzzle end of the handle. That o-ring should hold the bigger tube in place so that small tube can press against the valve seat. If you dont see a black o-ring in there, the large tube will come loose. Does the large tube snap into place...

How long are the cables on the controler? Did you have to put the plug right next to the thing? What about the kettle? Does the system come with extension cables?

Here's one way to complicate things and cause all kinds of testing and control until the process is dialed: Heat up your hot liquor to 190-200 degrees and pump it into the clean, sanitized conical fermentor. Dough in per usual, but with very little water left in the boil kettle. This would work...

    BoilCoil or Ripple Element?

You will not get the same low watt density as the boil coil with water heating elements. I have seen scorch marks at the tip of those. The ripple elements seem to be bent too tight and push the wire towards the outside and create hot spots. I bet its not a problem in a water heater, but with...

    PID not auto-tuning

Were you able to get this to auto-tune? Im curious to see how this turned out.

I had another idea. I hope i'm not dragging this out too far. You said the pump is flipped around from the stock location. (pump head on the left?) If so, and only if so, mount the quick release bracket on right side of the stand. You would have to drill a couple of holes in the stand, but it...

There's three things that can be done to prevent dripping onto the pump: 1. Mount the therminator "upside" "down" so that the fittings are over the wet side of the pump. 2. Spin the pump around so that the head is under the fittings on the chiller 3. Change the process to where you connect the...

    Blichmann kettle help

Try giving the entire kettle (inside and out up to the valve) a soak in PBW. There may be sugars gummed up inside and out through the treads. Give penetrating lubes a try after the soak if that doesn't work.

What do you mean medicinal? Metalic? Have you tried a scrubbing a good dose of bar keeper's friend in there?

What watt density is that element? It looks kind of scorchy. Though that could be the low voltage one. The Autosparge defeats channeling by pouring the wort back to the top of mash bed in a gentle swirling pool. It flows horizontally out of the hose, not straight down. For an all in one system...

Basement Brewing Sound Dampened Exterior Mount Ventilaton Fan

I open up a window somewhere in the house every time I run the fan. If its a cool day, I could use a window up stairs and on the other side of the house. But most of the time its just a window on the other side of the basement. On the code, the only time I'll need a to follow that is if I...

Basement Brewing Sound Dampened Exterior Mount Ventilaton Fan

Oh yeah, i definitely power down not to boil off too much water during the boil. I don't over boil! But, I brew a bbl every couple months and have enough ventilation to suck out 11,700 watts of steam without much sweat on the walls. I have to post pics of my cardboard prototype vent hood as...

Might these work to vent electric brewery?

Here's my take on ventilation: BYO had me do a right up on this. You may be able to rifle through old articles to find it. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=589508 This is the link to the edition: https://byo.com/stories/issue/itemlist/category/228-jan-feb-2017

    Problem with new Riptide Pump

I'm pretty certain the noise is not from the holes in the back of the impeller because all of the impellers have the same holes. It might be from the shaft. If the impeller was stuck on the shaft, pulling it off may have made the pin loose. I think the cause was the old impeller getting stuck...
