Have you measured the temps at the base? I would estimate they are quite a bit cooler than the water temp. Heat rises and the kettle sheds about 10% of the heat value, so I am going to proceed with my build. I will post pictures and data as I go.
We all would brew beer at home no matter what the cost. My wife is happy that I have this "inexpensive hobby" now. The last one I had was vintage aircraft. Brewing is much less costly than flying. Safer too.:mug:
