    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

So the numbers suggested in the original post in the thread should be cut in half? Both the calcium and acid malt? I never went down the brewing water hole far, yet!

    Who bottle conditions 34/70?

Hi folks! i bottled a pale style beer a few days ago that was fermented with 34/70 at about 59f. In the pass alot of my beer went in the kegs but this batch i bottled. I was thinking of letting it ride at about 59f in the bottles as well. It will be over 4 weeks before i will be able to test...

    Blichmann Quick Carb first batch

Thanks i'm sure i will have a look sometime. I enjoy working with pumps and tubing. Could be my major project next year! For me. lol I couldn't help myself. What kind of pump is it? and the tubing looks like it has a very large ID - the clear one coming from the co2 tank. Double edit: I...

    Saflager 34/70

I see. I'm going to try 7-8 grams for 5 gals. I will be adding it about 24 hours after i place the carboy in my very cold fridge. 2c or so. Have you tried biofine clear?

    Grainfather opinions

In a similar vein Bräu Supply as a really nice looking unit, pricey however. Clawhammer supply as well but the basket holders look to be a 2 man job to setup. However, I've had my grainfather a longtime now, i have the one with the original controller. I made well over 100 batches in that...

    Saflager 34/70

Hassle is relative. :D My basement is about 62f now so it would be a hassle to ferment and carry it upstairs in room temp.

    Saflager 34/70

How long did you ferment for? And did you do a Diacetyl rest?

    Grainfather opinions

The grainfather is easy to use. They even sell a 220V now.

Did my first AG batch today - unsure if it was successful

Very typical final gravity. Its normally what i get on the vast majority of my beer. Modern recipes kits are leaps and bounds better then they were 10 years ago.

My first time Brewing a "Brewer's Best" Beer Kit Hefe?

What temperature is it fermenting at? You can visually tell when the fermentation is done most of the time. The foam will drop out. Most ales yeasts will ferment out in 10 days easy with medium original gravity. 1.050 for example. When i was a teenager - over 20 years ago - i literally made...

First time brewing, would love some tips!

I'm curious. Did you use a hydrometer? Most if not all those beer kits come with an ale yeast. Even if it does say lager. My go to site for creating recipes, sugar priming calculators etc is brewersfriend. Its free. For 5gals you want 137g for 2.5 volumes of co2

Not your typical gelatin fining thread

Hi Sammy, just looked over your site a little bit! What are your thoughts on the Hochkruz Mash step schedule now? I have a grainfather and never have tried a step mash before. Maybe i will next week. Especially for the escarpment krispy yeast that i have which they say on their site doesn't...
