TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

Well, it is running now, but I am not sure why. I sent a bit of Arduino code to the board with Arduino IDE, then reflashed the board and it came up and is working fine. Below is the code I sent, but I would think that after reflashing with the firmware (via: esptool.py --chip esp32 --before...

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

I also had this problem-- had to install the drivers for a USB to UART VCP driver, which fixed the problem. Its a bit complicated, though.

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

Ah... just to be clear. When I said I mentioned not for beginners.... I mean BEGINNERS! Like "pull up pin 16" to me means grab something and pull it upward. Now I KNOW this is not what it actually means (I think), and I have futzed around a bit with an Arduino before, but that's about it. I...

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

I just tried the same thing. I was able to flash the device on my Mac (after MASSIVE issues, not recognizing the serial port so I had to install a driver). It seemed to flash fine and had no errors. Now I have a nothing on the screen, and a low level red light that is continuously on, not...

Micro malt house DIY for home malting automation

Beautiful project! I might have to try this. Have access to a farm where Barley is grown, but I think it is feed barley... hopefully it will work, as well.

    DIY Cool Bot Builders

Grat project. Is it working well for people? Sorry to resurrect this after months.

    Temperature stratification in conical fermentor

Thanks, John. I do love my Stout Conicals! When summer rolls around and I have to switch to cooling, I'll try it then and see if I notice any stratification when cooling. Klaus

    Temperature stratification in conical fermentor

I would agree with you, but the TILT hydrometer, that is literally floating at the surfaced sends temperature and SG via bluetooth to my phone reads even higher than the temperature controller. Now, it is my first time using this so I don't really know how accurate it is at this temp. It held...

    Temperature stratification in conical fermentor

Wow, thanks for the thorough input. I'll explain the system a bit more. I use a Stout Tanks and Kettles 7.3 gallon fermentor, and I actually bought their milled aluminum blocks for this, as it was too much of a pain to get them milled. I have a controller that supplies current for either...

    Temperature stratification in conical fermentor

I see. But of course, this was a HUGE 20 degree difference related to my fermentation control. I thought the warm wort would rise and suck in the cold and generate a little circular current. Apparently not. So when I document fermentation temperature, do I document the top or the bottom...

    Temperature stratification in conical fermentor

Good morning everyone. Just thought I would report on something I noticed with my conical fermentor. I have an insulated conical, that has a peltier heating system, home made, but essentially similar to what the MoreBeer ultimate conicals have. Yesterday I chilled the wort to 59 while...

    Voltage from PWM circuit

    Great, thanks! Klaus

    Voltage from PWM circuit

Thinking about the flow of electricity... if I use the second diagram, then don't I need to eliminate the diode? Otherwise there is only one path out for the electrons (through the voltmeter) which is going to be very high resistance. I would think then that the capacitor would never...

    Voltage from PWM circuit

Yes, I thought about an old analog voltmeter before. Unfortunately, the space on my panel I'm building is very small, and I can't find a very tiny panel mount analog voltmeter. It was an oversight on my part... I just assumed a digital voltmeter would average out the signal like an analog one...

    Voltage from PWM circuit

Another question... how would one go about sizing a capacitor and resistor like this. The PWM frequency is 21kHz. I want, for instance, 80% duty cycle to read 80% of 12v (or 9.6V). Is there a chart someone knows about to look this up?

    Voltage from PWM circuit

Thank you. What is the point of the resistor, exactly? Does it go from the end of the diode before the capacity to the common lead (1st picture), or inline between the diode and the takeoff of the capacitor (like in 2nd picture)? Is it just because the resistance across the voltmeter is so...

    Voltage from PWM circuit

Just curious about a wiring diagram, and thought you might be able to help me out. I am trying to run 12 volt motor, via a PWM circuit, but wanted to get the power in terms of the initial voltage supplied. I have little volt meters but with a PWM circuit, no matter how short the pulses are...
