    IPA burnout

I think all of them in the last 10 years or so is a fad, but the hazy is just the poster child. I just don't enjoy tongue thrashing beers, and I decline to consume them.

    IPA burnout

    There, I said it.

    IPA burnout

It has been a few years since I would willingly purchase an IPA. It's a terrible fad, and I just won't participate. I have had a couple that weren't bad, but, no thanks.

    Belma Hops

I used an ounce at 30 and another ounce at 10. The flavor and aroma are citrusy and have some tropical fruit/melon elements. It is much different than typical piney Cascade like impressions I get from other hops. I am not a judge, and definitely not an expert on hop aroma and flavor, but all I...

    Belma Hops

I get plenty of flavor and aroma from this hop, and got good feedback from my friends that tried it, and I always tell them not to sugar coat it. I don't understand how our results could be so different.

    Belma Hops

I always do at least two pounds, or else it is almost not worth it to me. As for Belma, I am really liking this hop, and if I could get it for $5.00 a pound again, I might use it almost exclusively for bittering hops. 11%! Nice. Plus, I have done three pale ales with this and the first two were...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I have a friend that is a BJCP National judge, and he said one of the hardest things to nail on a Cream Ale is the head. <insert joke here> Especially bottling, I would think. Kegging can be tweaked.

cold crashing yeast starter VS NOT

Rehydration is the process of waking them up, and it doesn't stay warm for long. Bakers and brewers both use the same range of rehydrating water. Just warm your yeast up gradually and pitch when it is the same temp as the wort.

    Forgot Hops

That's very interesting, and good to know. 2 oz. in how many gallons? Just don't try this with IIPAs!

2013's How many gal of homebrew in 2013

I brew nearly every week. I miss one every now and then, so I would conservatively estimate I brew 40 times a year; up to 48. I don't keep exact gallon figures, but always shoot for five. That puts me at 200-240 gallons. I say 200. 53765.5 The best part is that I know I am in compliance with...

    Belma Hops

Sounds like it is made for Saisons, which happens to be a-ok with this brewer. I just won a pound from HD, along with a shirt, hat and some Belma scented soap. I bet my wife will like the soap! Later, dudes.

    Brewtarget 2.0 Update

Thanks for the workaround. Good enough! Somehow, through trial and error, I got everything into my last batch, but it took a lot of attempts. I like the new version. Keep up the good work!

    APA gone Belgian

I think the high gravity beer is your answer, like in the previous replies. I did have an APA a year or two ago that was fermented at my usual 72° , which I know is a little high. It was US 2-Row, US hops, US everything. Judges said they loved it, but that it was in the wrong category. They...

    Brewtarget 2.0 Update

I am having trouble with the Misc database. When I try to add Yeast Nutrient, it adds Whirlfloc or something else, and then it creates a duplicate entry so I now have two Whirlfloc entries. It also duplicates Gypsum a lot, and I can't figure out how to add Yeast Nutrient. This is happening on...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

As with all beers, you should brew what you like. The style calls for little or no hop aroma or flavor, but if you like it, do it. BM might have an opinion on this. You look like you are doing allright from what's on you brewing list.
