    Welch's Concord Grape Juice Wine

I make a dessert wine from frozen, every female that has tried it has loved it, about 1/2 the males have liked it and is way to sweet for me. I like dry reds, my wife hates reds, but loves the dessert. I haven't made a batch in a couple years,no time. but i have 2 batches on day 4 right...

How to fix first wine batch

Both strawberry recipes I know of say to let it sit for a year before real tasting. Every batch I've down has been not good at 6 months, pretty decent after a year.

my first wine, i choose strawberry, need advice

X2 on golden raisins. I did 2 1 gallon batches a year+ ago, one with and one without. Otherwise identical recipe. The plain batch is ok, very light taste. The raisin batch better body, better flavor. Both smelled amazing during primary. I stuck my head in the buckets a few times a day :)...

undrinkable rocketfuel, or cheap desert wine?

Bottled and sampled tonight. Aged on the lees with no racking until tonight. Results are... according to the wife... really good. Alcohol tastes fairly raw still, but bottle aging will likely mellow it a bit. But she drank my sample glass, which has never happened, asked for more, which...

undrinkable rocketfuel, or cheap desert wine?

Time will tell. If it doesn't eat through my carboy I'll post results and recipe which isn't fancy. But 4 cans grape juice concentrate, 2+lbs sugar and topped to 1 gallon along with some red star. Sugar is aballpark, it's what I had left after a 5g batch of apple. Both started last night...

    Open Fermentation Question

I use a paper towel secured with a rubber band. I'm high tech.

    Bottling... finally!

I soak in 1 step for an hour or so and they go in pretty easy with a double arm corker. No idea what they're actually called. Then let them sit upright for a day or so and after that they're gtg.

    Raketenkraftstoff ummm, wein.

If you put 'rocket fuel' into babelfish and convert it to german you get Raketenkraftstoff. So I made some Raketenkraftstoffwein. I don't know if I can fit that on a label. So I started with the usual apfelwein recipe for 5g batch and let it sit for quite a while after fermentation was...

    Apfelwein question

It tastes better sweetened, brings back some of the natural flavors. I've got a bunch that I didn't do anything with besides bottle and as a wine it was pretty unimpressive. I started putting it over ice in a regular glass with a teaspoon or two of sugar and my didn't those bottles go fast...

    I'm making strawberry wine

I've done 3 batches of strawberry so far, they smell terrific while they ferment. I haven't touched them in probably 2-3 months. Back then they didn't taste good at all. Recipes I have call for at least a year in the bottle to start developing real flavor. I'm pretending they don't exist...

    Big bottle pump

I was browsing the harbor freight website looking for items for an upcoming move and stumbled across this. http://www.harborfreight.com/pump-for-5-gallon-water-bottle-90833.html I've got 2 batches sitting in 5g water bottles waiting for me to get off my butt and bottle them... I mean bulk...

    A travesty

Well I bet your sister could use a couple bottles as christmas gifts... Just strain out the bug parts before you bottle.

    A travesty

Add a little extra yeast, I bet the flies ferment out just fine.

    Lemon-wine recipe updates

I did some lemonaid a while back, took over a week to really take off if I remember right.

    New to Wine making

Raisins give a weak wine more body. And campden alone isn't enough to stop fermentation.

    Pineapple Wine

Good luck on it clearing. I've had a gallon of pineapple/orange sitting for a few months now, hasn't cleared at all. I think I'm going to have to break down and try some clearing agents.

    Fermentation time

Leave it for a month before you bottle. Patience is a virtue in this hobby, 1 week is beer brewing time. I'm fairly new, had a few batches that were kind of drinkable at 1 month, not bad at all at 3. And I don't know how they'd do longer, because I drank them :) 1 gallon test batches don't...

    Growing Grapes at Home

Here's there website. http://www.tablemountainvineyards.com/ I considered that I had picked up a bad bottle and went back to the liquor store to discuss it. Turns out I hadn't. They do regular wine tasting nights and to date they've had 1 person take a 2nd glass. Everyone else has returned...

    Growing Grapes at Home

FWIW I found out there are a couple wineries in WY. Worst tasting wine I've ever had. 1st and only bottle that after 1/2 a glass the rest went down the drain. I spoke with a few more knowledgeable than me, was told that the grapes that grow well up here, taste that bad. I've got a couple...
