    Is this bad practice?

    I'm only on my second batch so I still have a lot of questions On my first batch I did a 2.5 gallon boil. I didn't know I was supposed to use sanitized water for the topoff, so I just used tapwater from the squirt nozzle. Beer turned out good, So I repeated that for my second batch...

    Did I KILL my yeast?

    Brewed my second batch of beer yesterday... Figured I'd rehydrate the yeast this time since I didn't bother on my first batch. Well, I read the instructions wrong and used BOILING water instead of warm water... It's been 12 hours and I see no activity... No spare yeast on hand... Suggestions?

    Hydrometer question

    I keep reading that you should draw off a sample of beer using a wine thief or a turkey baster when taking a gravity reading, rather than putting the hydrometer directly in the fermenter, so that you dont accidently infect the beer.... I dont understand this. How is putting a sanitized...
