I did 5 gallons of cream ale and my first 5 gallons of cider. Both were happily bubbling away within 24 hours. Going to brew 5 gallons of vanilla porter this sunday.
I'm still doing extract kit brews and can't do one for under $50. $7 for bottled water, $10 on ice to cool the wort, plus the cost of the kit...but i bought a wort chiller today, so that'll save cash in the long run.
Got 2 more Ale Pails from Midwest Supply and a Brew Belt last week. Now I'll be able to do 3 batches at once!
Can't wait to bottle and taste the chocolate bock. Moved the fermenter down to the basement Sunday to let it sit in the cold a while before I bottle it this weekend.
My Brewer's Best American Cream Ale is just a hair under 6%, and it's not watered down at all. Fairly strong flavor, actually. A month in the fermenter and 3 weeks in the bottle so far.
I'm hoping the reading was off because of the cocoa powder I added to the boil. Whatever the problem, I'll wait and see how it turns out. If it doesn't ferment, I'll try again.
Yep, so far everything has turned out great. Can't wait to crack open the first bottle of my second batch here in a week or two to see how it turned out.
Wow, that smoked porter is a tasty beer! Bought the kit for a European Bock last night. Didn't know it's suppossed to be a lager. Oops. Guess I'll be brewing it as an ale. A Chocolate Bock Ale.
Been over 2 months, and my first batch (the smoked porter) is ready to drink. Very yummy! But it'll be another 2-3 weeks for the second batch to age, and I'm brewing the third batch tomorrow........Gotta brew more often.
