    AHS Alaskan Amber Kit

I just tired it and it's not bad. What I did to the kit was add 1.5oz of Saaz at the 15 minute mark (as opposed to AHS .75oz) and .5oz at the 5 minute mark. It is closer, but there's still something that needs to be done. I don't know if the flavor is off of the original because the beer is...

    AHS Alaskan Amber Kit

It got put in the keg last night and I'm force carbing it at 30psi right now; I should have an answer in a couple of days.

    AHS Alaskan Amber Kit

Well the Mac and Jack went the wrong direction, and that's what's on tap at the moment. I did speak to a friend who use to work at the brewery, and now I have a parts list for that beer. Because of that, the Alaskan is still sitting in the primary, however, I would imagine I'd have an update...

    AHS Alaskan Amber Kit

No problem, I'll be working on both Alaskan and Mac until they are both correct.

    AHS Alaskan Amber Kit

It is close but not quite there. I had my friend send me down a 12 pack so I could Pepsi challenge the real stuff vs. the AHS stuff. So, I am currently tweaking the AHS version to try to get it closer; my first attempt is adding more Saaz hops for flavor, and this is currently in the bucket...

My first cider, talk about interesting

You had to go all "high class" on us with the Martinelli's didn't you?! The only time I use Martinelli's is to mix with brown sugar as a hose down spray when BBQing, and I don't use that much.

    Peanut butter???

The M-I-L used peanut butter extract (bought at Walmart) for making cakes...maybe that's something that should be looked into? http://www.watkinsonline.com/productdetail.cfm?Product=21365&gcatalogLocale=USA

    Kegging question

Well this is what I do and it seems to work, but other may have other ideas. Keg your beer, hit it with 10 pounds of Co2, release the pressure a bit, this should kick out the oxygen leaving just Co2. Hook up your Co2 line again and hit it with 30psi, while sloshing the keg around, as you...

    Ok, very cool. Thanks guys.

    AHS extract kit

In that case, do you think it would be wise to lower the bittering hops time from 60min down to 45 min to solve that problem?

    AHS extract kit

So I picked up the AHS Alaskan Amber kit from AHS the other day and want to see if what I'm planning is wrong or effed up. So, tell me what you think. I have a SS turkey frier pot that I planned to use building this beer; i.e. we'll be outside and not on the stove top. AHS instructions seem...

    Reuse photochemical bottles for beer?

I'm going to side with insubordinatek on this one. Bottle's are cheap compared to coming out looking like a smurf! Google image search "Colloidal Silver" to see what I'm talking about ;)

    What is This???

It's used to hold open your sankey (beer tap) for cleaning the lines from the top down. You fill the line (from the faucet) with cleaning solution, let it sit, then put that in the tap to hold the ball open so that you can drain the cleaning solution.
