Who's the brewer behind these bottle caps?

    What was the brewery?

    Coming clean

I've heard good things about Spike's customer service. Good to see your thorough troubleshooting process, as well. Glad everything is working for you now!

    Hello from Canada :)

I hope you also like beer :mug:

    Any canadians growing hops

Lots of Canadians growing hops in the more southern regions, but not sure about up around your parts. You might get some growth but likely not as much as anywhere else. Fortunately rhizomes aren't overly expensive so I'd say go for it and see what happens. When it comes to mulch I'd definitely...

My First Attempt At Growing Hops.

Very cool! I've always wanted to grow hops myself. Following along to see the progress throughout the spring and summer!

    Stirred wort after pitch

You're all good! My only concern would be loss of yeast cells to whatever you stirred with, due to sticking to it, if it's a dry pitch. Otherwise, fermentation will be fine! Just don't stir it up too aggressively post-fermentation 😅

Cream ale changed flavor after kegging

As long as it's drinkable, enjoy it for now! Quick question: When you say you checked it after transferring the beer, what did you do to check?

Cream ale changed flavor after kegging

That artificial-plastic off flavour can occur when sanitizer solution comes in contact with the yeast leftover in the beer. Any chance of leftover solution in the keg after pushing with co2? The color change looks like oxidation to me but based on your process description it seems like that...

Cheap Pen to Defeat Check-Washing Dirtbags

This is a new anxiety that I didn't expect to have today. I write so few checks that it's unlikely to be an issue but still....

Average Joe to Brewing Pro - My two years of brewing school.

Thanks Sammy, I definitely agree. The journey was well worth it. I learned skills and met people that will stay with me the rest of my life. Glad I did it when young, and it may translate into something more in the future. There are so many ways to be involved in the world of great beer these days!

Average Joe to Brewing Pro - My two years of brewing school.

...to Average Joe! 10 (almost) year update. I haven't been on this site in a long, long time. To be honest I didn't do a lot of homebrewing while I was brewing professionally. The daily routine of waking up and running a brewing business until it was time to sleep kind of took the thrill of the...

    What's your new style obsession?

I've long been a fan of Porter, and this time of year has me itching to brew a few of my own variations. I've been experimenting with different hop combinations in a basic IPA recipe to learn what I really like, as well.

Looks like it's time for another of my sporadic updates! I would like to start by congratulating Dudius and MoreHops on their acceptance to the Brewmaster program! Dudius will be joining us at Niagara College and MoreHops will be part of the first year at Olds College, where we have just...

Haha well it wouldn't be unheard of! I don't really have a good reason for not keeping up with the updates, but I will try and do better now! We have the summers off, but we are expected to get an internship in the industry somewhere. Most people end up at some brewery or other, either...

Average Joe to Brewing Pro - My two years of brewing school.

Well it has been a long time since I last updated this thread, I got caught up in school and part time job having and to be honest didn't really feel like writing down my day to day. Anyhow, I have some spare time now so I will try and give a general overview of my second semester thus far...

Average Joe to Brewing Pro - My two years of brewing school.

Haha I was waiting for someone to comment on that. I have officially moved from tipsy to mild drunk. Ha a few wheat beers ( ayinger, hoegaarden, and a home brew) now on to the Tripels. La Fin Du Monde, from my native Quebec and La Trappe, an official Trappist beer from the Netherlands. I...

Average Joe to Brewing Pro - My two years of brewing school.

I am currently in Sensory Evaluation watching presentations on beer styles. My group presented first on IPAs, with a sampling of Mad Tom IPA from Muskoka brewery. The second group presented Bitters and we tasted the schools Butler's Bitter and Granite Brewery ( from Toronto)'s Best bitter...
