    Consecration kit from MoreBeer

Anyone experience any off flavors from the Roselare yeast? I sampled my brew last night and got a distinctly band-aid / solvent flavor. I really focus on cleanliness during my brew days, so I'm not quite sure where that flavor is coming from. My consecration batch is about 4 months old total...

    Attempting Supplication clone

I'm about to bottle my Supplication clone this weekend. I can't believe it's been 18 months since I started this project. From the one sample that I've drawn, it tastes great. Great vinous complexity. Will have to do a side by side taste test this fall sometime, after the bottles have had some...

    Fermenting beers in keezer

I currently have a 7 cu foot chest freezer that I'm converting into a keezer (with addition of a collar). I would like to be able to ferment ales in the keezer as well as serve out of it, but is this possible? From the MoreBeer website, the FermWrap they sell can raise the temp from 5-20...

GE 7 CF (FCM7SUWW) keezer conversion

For anyone who has completed this project, what kind of caulk/glue did you use to attach the wooden collar to the freezer lid? Do you have a link to the exact product? How is it holding up over time? Thanks for the input. BK

    Goose Island Sofie...AG Clone ideas?

    1. Currently sitting on oak (and orange peel). Will probably let it hang out for a few (+/- 2) weeks. 2. I added the orange peel at the same time as the oak. 3. You can, but the brew shops sell orange peel. Easy for me. I'm sure you can use fresh orange zest, but it might be too sweet coming...

    Buying sour beer online

I couldn't find the exact link I was referencing, but I did find this little nugget of good information: http://onlinebeerstores.homestead.com/index.html Lists online beer stores and where they will ship to. Happy hunting! BK

    Buying sour beer online

There are a lot of threads floating around about buying beer online. There is one in particular on beeradvocate that is helpful. In my experience, John's grocery in Iowa is great and has Jolly Pumpkin. Half Time Beverage has good customer service and some some Belgian sours (Rodenbach...

    Goose Island Sofie...AG Clone ideas?

After looking at this thread a few times, I'm not sure why I added the munich malt. I think I hybridized this recipe from the Brewing Classic Styles version, along with information from Farmhouse Brews. I always do a lot of research before I brew, so there must be a good reason. In regards to...

    Goose Island Sofie...AG Clone ideas?

Update on my recipe: After pitching the brett B, I let it sit for two weeks. Started off at 74F and ramped up to 77F. After two weeks, the brett has dropped the gravity by 2 points (1.012-->1.010). The beer at this point is cloudy and looks a bit like lemonade. Tastes great though: some...

    Pond pump PSA

Fellow Homebrewers, Just wanted to provide a little public service announcement regarding the use of pond pumps of wort chilling via recirculation. I had the issue last night and surprisingly didn't find an answer here on HBT. Here's the skinny: Picked up a 1/4 horsepower pond pump from...

    Goose Island Sofie...AG Clone ideas?

Nah probably not. I thought about it, but am going to keep it pretty clean this time around. Depending on how this batch tastes, I may do it in subsequent batches. Just pitched the Brett B yesterday. The white labs saison yeast dropped it from 1.050 to 1.012, so this batch should finish nice...

    Attempting Supplication clone

Here's what I quickly worked out on the BrewPal app here at work: 11lbs 2 row (86.3%) 0.5lb aromatic (3.9%) 0.5lb Crystal 40 (3.9%) 0.50lb Special B (3.9%) 0.25lb Chocolate (2.0%) OG 1.063. Pretty straightforward malt bill. Now looking for an appropriate hop, although I know this is a very...
