    beetles?

Most of my 2nd year hops are up around 7 feet now, except my cascades, which have been getting eaten by something. Today I finally spotted them. The look to be tiny beetles? Anyone know? And how to get rid of them?

    Katydids?

As I was spraying to try to control a spider mite issue I saw this guy sitting at the top of my hops. I researched and found him to be a katydid. The wiki on them say some eat plants, but some prey on insects. Sooooo, do I get rid of him, or allow him to control my spider problem?

What are these and how do I get rid of them?

1st year grower. This is on a rhizome given to me, either Willamette or Fuggle. It's about 15 feet high now, but I notied the leaves were browning. I assumed it was nitrogen deficiency until I saw these guys. Look like spiders, but only seem to have 6 legs? All help is much appreciated

I'm planning on harvesting some Bells yeast for a Two-Hearted clone and I'm wonder when you harvest, do you need to create new wort every time you step up? Or can I create all the wort I need in one flask on day one and just add it to gradually?

Can I "lager" in the low 50's?

I'm looking into brewing my first lager, but I don't have the money or equipment to properly lager. I've found the sump pump closet in my basement remains a pretty constant 52 degrees. I figure thats good for the primary fermentation. Is there any benefit to a long "lager" period if I can...

    Thanks from collegeville, PA

After 17 extract brews last year, I found this fourm and my 3rd AG, a Bavarian Hefe, is cooling now. I figure it's time to step out of the trub and start posting.
