    WTB: Corny Lid

Anybody got an extra one kicking around? I harvested one of mine for my sanke fermenter, so one of my kegs is on the shelf until I can replace it.

    adding faucets to a tower

Thanks for the tips. Do you think a 1" is going to be too big? Should I get a 7/8" instead?

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    adding faucets to a tower

Hate to bump this post from '07, but I wanted to get some advice before drilling into my 2.5" tower! I am about to add a second tap to my tower. I have a 1" bi-metal hole saw, do you think that will be appropriate for this shank? http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=234 Did...

Tighten the crap out of your fittings!

I am terrified of this occurring in my kegerator since it's a mini-fridge style and sits in the corner of my living room. :drunk: I am actually in the process of adding a picnic tap to run a second keg, but not until I am 100% convinced in the reliability of those cheap plastic taps.

Single tap tower, best way to add a picnic tap

So if I understand correctly, if one of the two kegs were to run out of beer, I could shut off the gas, hook up a new keg, turn the gas back on... As simple as that? I would be force carbing with the same tank as I am serving with, (set and forget) so if a new flat keg is put on the line with a...

Single tap tower, best way to add a picnic tap

Brilliant. I recognize that tap from the Apfelwein video on YouTube! That kegerator is basically the same dimensions as mine, but I have just the single tap tower. Limited room for two kegs, and basically no room for a larger regulator. What happens when a keg runs out? Is it as simple as...

Single tap tower, best way to add a picnic tap

Hello, Just putting together plans to run a second keg off my 5lb C02 tank. I can squeeze a second keg in the fridge... I usually used this space for lagering/aging, but this is my question: What is the best way to add a picnic tap to run both kegs simultaneously? I know I can use a "T"...

    Sanitizer Question....

I have skimmed through the thread as best I can trying to find an answer to this simple question with no luck! I am getting back into bottling a little bit (Been strictly kegging beers for the past few years) what I am concerned about with the no-rinse stuff is bottle conditioning... If I am...

    StarSan Question

Just curious, but would the same strategy work for Iodophor?

    Post your infection

Wow, that takes a load off my mind... I was under the impression that only grain had the enzymes to produce this sort of mess on the surface. I am used to seeing this sort of stuff with hops and such using grain and ale yeast, but I was very concerned with the Apple and champagne yeast! I...

    Post your infection

I am getting some crazy activity with a batch of Apfelwein I just put on... In previous batches with the same yeast, all I got was a very thin layer of bubbles. I pitched the dry 1118 about 24 hours ago, but I started seeing this crazy stuff within 12 hours or so. Is this an infection? I have...

    Power questions...

I live in an old house, (renting) and am pretty concerned about the wiring... I am slowly putting together some pieces to convert my SS pot to do full electric boils for 5 gallon batches. With starting temp of my water at about 120 degrees, will 2 120v 1500w elements be enough to get a good boil...

    Tricks for keeping auto-siphon sanitary?

I take pride in my sanitizing practices, however, I worry about my auto-siphon. Is there any sure fire way to keep these things clean and bug free? This always seems to be the usual suspect when discussing a possible infection. How do you "prep" your auto-siphon before and after use?

How much do you pay for your CO2?

That is pretty much what I pay for an exchange at the LHBS. You can probably get a cheaper price at a welding shop, or perhaps a fire extinguisher supply shop/etc. The cost to exchange for a 10 pounder is actually only a few dollars more at my LHBS, but they don't have them available very often...

    Sanke fermenter upgrades... Corny lid/Thermowell

Hello folks, beeb fermenting in my Sanke fermenter lately, and it is working beautifully. I was a bit apprehensive about filling it "blind," as in, not being able to visually inspect the inside of the keg before dumping my wort in. I haven't had an issue with this, it was more of a mental...

    Woodworking question...

Any idea if a sanding block will suffice to smooth out the surfaces? Thanks for the replies.

    Woodworking question...

This is a bit strange to ask, but I have seen some incredible stuff done with wood on this board in the past, so I figured the wisdom was out there! In the past I have created some tap handles with an old draw knife. These were just cut from single chunks of hardwwood out of the woodpile. I...

Let's hear your "crazy stout" ideas!

I did a pumpkin oatmeal stout a few months ago. It turned out pretty good, but if I were to brew it again, I will skip the clove all together.
