    Grains/Hops/DME shelf life?

Thanks for the info guys! I'll double bag everything AND put it in plastic containers. Quick question regarding freezing hops, if they are frozen do the need to be defrosted/thawed out before adding to the boil, or can they just be thrown straight in there? Cheers :mug:

    Grains/Hops/DME shelf life?

I do all my brewing in small (1 gallon) batches due to severe space limitations in my apartment. All brew are (dry) extract based with some steeping grains (crystal/chocolate malt etc.) as required. A typical recipe uses 1lb or so of DME and up to 1lb of (sometimes mixed) grains. I've just...

    Latest batch, first tasting...

This is my 4th attempt at brewing. The first 3 were 5 gallon batches that didn't turn out so well. I did these before I moved into my new apartment. We are pretty cramped but I actually prefer the smaller batch brewing. It's quicker (less water to boil) and I get to do it more often to keep...

    Latest batch, first tasting...

Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a while but I though I'd let you all know how my latest batch turned out. In one word: FANTASTIC! I only brew 1 gallon (8 UK pint) batches due to space limitations in my apartment. I bottle all my beer after primary fermentation. This is my 4th...

    Beer Sphere!

I have the Hambleton Bard Beer Sphere. It's good for (English) ales but not so good for lagers as I imagine it cannot contain enough CO2 pressure. I can pull 3 or 4 UK pints before the head pressure drops to atmospheric (i.e. beer flow stops). Have had 2 brews in it. Check the lid seals...

Question about steeping grain in extract/grain brew

Question about steeping grain in extract/grain brew

Ok, so far i've only brewed using extract but i'm considering steeping grains for my next (or the one after) brew. I've been reading a few things about it and there seems to be a few adifferent opinions on the matter. Some sources say to put the grains in the water as it heats up to boiling...

    Hello from the UK!

Hi all, I was searching the 'net for some general brewing info and stumbled across this site. Looks like a great place to find useful tips, etc. I made my first brew about 2 months ago and currently have my second ageing in bottles. See you around :)
