    I used 1 X 10s. What you see is painted flat steel for a nice smooth surface for the weatherstripping to adhere to. The Flat steel is 1.5" thick, so the insulation actually slides under it to meet the collar.

    I stained and lacquered the collar and used epoxy to secure it to the freezer. I fitted 2" thick, R-10, extruded polystyrene insulation to the collar and caulked all seams. It's tighter than a mosquito's *******. .... And wound up with this. El Final

    I began modifying the freezer to accept two 1/6 barrels at a time. I first removed the lid and will be adding a 10" collar. This will give me the clearance I need to fit the two kegs with all associated hardware. This is a Frigidaire 5 cu ft. Freezer.
