Autumn Seasonal Beer Joie De Vivre (Fake Imperial Pumpkin)

I am going to order the ingredients for this soon. Anyone else have this problem (with the gelatin goo)? I am just going to add the spices at the end of the boil after I measure the OG, I don't want to overspice this thing.

    Double IPA Pliny The Bastid

Okay, so I brewed this recipe one month ago to the day. Overall, the whole thing felt like a disaster. It was over 100 degrees here in DC. I mashed at WAYYYY too high a temp. Small boil over. Took over 4 hours to cool down to 90 degrees (in a basement, but with lukewarm water). The wort...

hints for a sweeter brew with a hint of vanilla?

It has been several months now, so I figured I would post my thoughts, just in case anyone wants to come along and brew this. Thank you for posting the original recipe cheese. This was a hit with a lot of people. I was a tad bit underwhelmed. However, I think I can make some slight tweaks to...

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

That is what I had read on the internet. However, every single store I went to was out of them, and I was told they were now out of season. This includes: Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Giant, Shoppers, and Safeway. It was not for lack of trying. BTW, my lid has blown...

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

I just brewed this recipe last night. Of course, blood oranges are out of season. I did find a very interested alternative though: Honey Tangerines. They are a bit deeper in color than regular oranges and not very acidic. I'll know in a few weeks how this ended up turning out. If the beer...

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

I am purchasing the ingredients for this one today. Really looking forward to it. I use buckets, so no blowoff tube for me. Hope the lid doesn't pop off :-/ Question: Has anyone used DME and LME? Not in the same batch, but in different. What will the difference be, taste wise? Also, I...

hints for a sweeter brew with a hint of vanilla?

Just brewed the Boom-Boom yesterday. I cut the vanilla additions in half. I am looking forward to see how this turns out. I decided on 3 weeks in the fermenter and then 3 weeks in bottle.

    Witness my creation!

I am looking to make a raspberry chocolate stout in the next few months to have ready for later in the year. If this turns out well, I may use this recipe and just substitute fruits. The pictures are a thing of beauty.

hints for a sweeter brew with a hint of vanilla?

I know this thread is ancient, but I would like to revive it with a few questions. I just bought the ingredients for this one, it looks great (less sweet than the original, plus bourbon which rules). If you have brewed this and can help, I'd really appreciate it. 1) Did you ferment for the...

    Filtering the sediment during bottling?

I have a question about this. I will have my beer in the secondary bucket soon, and it has the standard spigot on the side. I am brewing a Belgian IPA, so there will be a lot of hoppy sediment along with the yeast. Is it a good idea (or even feasable) to put some sort of filter (like cheese...

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

I have a question in regards to this. Will the acidity of the oranges have (negative) side effects on the yeast? A secondary probably isn't necessary to add the oranges. However, I wouldn't want the yeast to be affected by the oranges/peel. Thanks

    Multiple questions about secondary fermentation

This thread has really opened my eyes. I have a few questions. I am a super noob at this. I brewed a Belgian IPA kit with a buddy (who has brewed ~40 batches of beer). The kit instructions say: - 5 to 7 days fermentation - transfer to secondary (no time listed for secondary, but I would...
