Nordeast Brewers Alliance Single Hop Experiment 2014

The Nordeast Brewers Alliance of which I am a member of recently did a single hop experiment at Day Block Brewing Company. DBBC made the wort then club members boiled on their own each using a different hop. Took some pics I wanted to share.

Things to do in Fort Smith

Work is sending me to Fort Smith and Im looking for a spot to drink/eat and cause some trouble. Any recommendations? Some friends and family will be driving in to meet me there so ideally I'm looking for a craft beer bar or a BBQ joint and a local sight seeing spot. Thanks.

    Heading to minnesota

If you like hand pumped cask ales and find yourself in St. Paul visit Great Waters. They usually have 4 or 5 at a time.

    Temp Controller froze my beer.

The probe is already touching the side of the keg. A bad controller is all I can think of because in 6 years I have never froze a keg or a carboy. Unless someone knows of a secret setting to get the controller to shut off at the set point like it is supposed to.

    Temp Controller froze my beer.

In the exact middle (height, distance from sides). Has been there for a year with no issues other than I find the freezer using the Johnson Controls will cool ~10F cooler that the set point. The lager freezer right next to it uses a Ranco and is set lower and never freezes anything. Johnson...

    Temp Controller froze my beer.

Somehow setting my temp controller to 40F with a differential of 4 froze 15 gals of beer at 29F. Not sure how that happens but I blame Johnson Controls. This never happens in my lagering fridge set to 35F with a diff of 4 using a Ranco.

Four Firkins or Liquor Barrel. Pentagram is long gone, but there is plenty of Seviin. Liquor Barrel had it for $22.

I played Casa de Chris. The portable basket and my yard were good enough for me.

    calling all disc golfers.....

Thread looks normal to me. I put in about 8 hours of DG over the weekend. My turbo putt is almost deadly accurate.

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

The is what I experienced as well. Unfortunately I scored the hell out of most of them.

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

Dude where were you yesterday? The instructions that came with my bottle cutter suggested dunking the bottle to the score in alternating hot and cold water. Took an hour to get 6 what I consider usable glasses and to break 5 other bottles in various ways.

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

Yeah they hold much more that 12oz. I tried to make them as tall as possible. Good thing I didn't make them for you. This was just something I wanted to do to get rid of some of the painted label bottles I had around the house. If the cuts or straight or curvy, it make no difference to me...

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

Yeah I left out the pics of dunking them in boiling then cold water to get them to separate Also left out pics of me smoothing out the edges.

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

The edges are smooth as silk. I used coarse, medium and fine emory cloths and a lot of elbow grease to smooth them out.

    Recycle Bombers into Drinking Glass

Todays project was recycling bombers into drinking glasses. I just got a bottle cutter in the mail the day before. I started with 11 bottles and ended up with 6 glasses. What do you think?
