Strange looking yeast cake in cider bottles

Hey guys, I just moved a six pack of a cider I made to the fridge and I noticed the yeast cake looks very strange. Now this is the first homebrew cider I've made, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I used Campden Tabs and Potassium Sorbate to stabilize. Here are some pics. To me, it looks...

    I strained out my cinnamon?

Hey guys, I have a spiced hard cider in my fermenter, and being that this was my first attempt at cider, I think I made a mistake. The recipe called for me to boil up some brown sugar, sweet gale, and cinnamon, but I strained out the cinnamon when I poured in the mixture. Was I supposed to leave...

    Favorite Drunk Music

I want to know what music everyone turns on when they are intoxicated! My favorites for drunky time are Gogol Bordello, anything really bassy (hip hop/electronica), and Christy Moore, depending on my mood. You?

Its Brew Night! (and I have a question regarding fermentation)

Hey guys, I'm brewing tonight and have a general question about fermenting. This will be my first time using a secondary fermenter, so do I need to let my gravity reading even out for two or so days before I swap to the secondary, or do I wait a certain amount of time before switching? Thanks.

    "Dryness" after taste?

I may have jumped the gun here, but I have had a Robust Porter (Brewer's Best) conditioning in bottles for exactly one week. Being the impatient guy I am, I chilled one down just to get a taste. Overall, its great. This is my first actual brew, aside from mr.beer, and tastes how I'd hoped. I do...

    Holiday Brew

Hey Brew-Guru's, I'm looking for a recipe for something (Cider, Beer) that will make the holidays a bit warmer. Something I can enjoy with my ladyfriend, and our families. Like I said, I'm open to beer and/or cider ideas, but I'm still relatively new to brewing (3rd extract batch in bottles) so...

Looking for a Shiner Bohemian Lager clone

I'm looking to brew this style of beer as my first venture into more complicated brewing, so I'm looking for a clone that is a partial mash and that uses ale yeast since I have no way to ferment at lager tempatures. Thanks in advance!

Yeast at the bottom of the bottle..

I have a batch bottle conditioning that has been in the bottles for around 12 days. I took one, and chilled it down to sample and check carbonation. Well it was so good I drank the whole thing, although only slightly carb'd. However, I did not notice the yeast cake at the bottom of the bottle...

A little help on the idea?

I've finally chosen a name: The Gentlemen Bastards Brewing Co. I just can't decide what to make of the label! I'm looking for ideas on what I could throw in here that would fit the general theme of the brewery based off the name.. If the it sparks your creativity, please let me know...

    Tulsa has a new brewer!

Hello everyone, I'm Brent, and I'm from Tulsa, OK. I just got into the brew hobby and am looking forward to taking this to the extreme. I'm just working on extracts right now because I'm so new to this hobby, but I can't wait to start REALLY getting into the brewing science.

THE spot for a weekday in Tulsa, OK

I recently found out that the Buccaneer Bar @ 11th and Harvard does 'Dime Time' Wednesdays.. of which I am afflicted by right now. The tittle means literally, one beer, one dime. A tray (10) for $1. EVERY Wednesday from 10-1! Its insane!!
