    Funny taste after bottling

I may be off base, but you say the beer is fine after secondary, yes? I had this problem once when I didn't boil my corn sugar up first. We have not talked about the bottle proceedure at all in this thread. Consistantly the same taste could be anything consistant in the process, but it...

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

The grains were fine, I am just worried about the yeast. I go from primary to keg, so for dry hop I use a stainless tea ball in the keg, then drink fast :)

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

Yeast smelled a bit funky... It was actually 1056 American, not London as I thought. Pitched and rolled, we'll see!! What is it, "Relax, don't worry, have a home brew" or something? Should add, "Don't mind spouse yelling upstairs too". :)

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

Oh, yes, I put the chiller in on the -15 min mark for sure. Still have condensation though. I am escared of doing counterflow/plate right now, don't want to worry about cleaning the SOB's.

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

Awww, missed by 0.008 on a 1.060, I am weeping :) I don't even care anymore about efficiency anymore much. Have tested and know my method(s). Heat, Mash, Sparge, Boil, Ferment, Keg, Drink :)

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

Well, chilled down to 72. Anybody ever worry about condensation dripping off of the copper feed line from immersion chiller into wort? Not confident about yeast yet... BTW Revvy, follow you on 4 wk pri and into keg. Beer has never been easier or better.

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

About the look and taste, I was talking about 'pre boil'. The yeast pack is not swelling much more than it was in the fridge after smack an hour ago. I may dump it into a sani container. It was swelled in fridge so much I couldnt tell if I smacked the nutrients. Its boiling, going for...

Year old crushed grain, mashed for test batch, throw away?

Hi, Did a test of a new AG batch sparge system with a bag of crushed (11lb 2 row, 0.5 Munich, 0.5 Cystal 40). These grains were crushed in Dec of 09 but stored in dry basement in winter and AC basement in summer. I was testing out a new PID controller for my electric kettle/mash and used...

    Inline Water Filtration

I have always just let the water settle for a day or two to remove chlorine (I don't have chloramine in the water). Do you think that filtering will remove minerals necessary for good mashing along with the chlorine?

How much power is available at the outlet?

The dryer and the garage outlet could be wired to the same breaker too. In that case, no brewing on laundry day :(

Avanti 5.0 Cu. Ft. Compact Refrigerators

I just bought one here http://www.homeeverything.com/web/sitefiles/product.asp?sku=27396&ref=cPricegrabber for $189.95. Can't wait for the price to drop or risk it rising. Does anybody know if I can drill for a tap on the left side? I can't do the top because I need to put another 4.6 CuFt on...

Hmm, I started out with 7.5 gallons, 12 lbs grain (11 2-row, 0.5 Crystal 40, 0.5 Munich Dark). My preboil was about 6.8 gals and the gravity was 1.059. That seems insanely high.

Its an '84 GPz 1100 that was purchased for $250, then cleaned up and put a bored out to 1175 big bore kit, with welded balanced crank. Original case with all new internals and top end. Cams degreed and gears are slotted. Basically a street bike with a drag engine. 4 into 1 and Stage 3 Dyno Jet...

I didn't buy it at that web site. The store told me that a yard is 36" off the roll no mater how "wide" the bolt is. But you may want to see if there is an FAQ or something at that site, maybe email them and ask. Make sure the bag is big enough to fit your pot in as a rule of thumb.

Partially a typo and partially because I may not get to it this weekend because an old friend passed away this week. I have had some 8 weekers though, 2 in primary, 4 in secondary and 2 in bottle. This one is going in a keg after just a primary though.
