Funny things you've overheard about beer

Overheard at a growler filling place. " This brewery doesn't pasteurize or filter their beers so they always have to be refridgerated so they don't go bad"

    Alabama Homebrewer Arrested

While is the best place to go to help for eventual legalization. I believe he is wanting to help him out directly. I would kick him some cash myself to help with this BS. If anyone knows how to reach out directly to the guy, Post something here and we could put together a fund for him.

Should I be thinning out my Hop rhizomes?

Thanks! It just one huge mass of roots now. They actually grow out from under the raised bed.

Should I be thinning out my Hop rhizomes?

should I? I have a 4' x 8' x 2' raised bed for my 4th year cascades and they have done quite well for me, but they are just a thick mess of bines by the second week of growth in the spring. I cut back at least half of the bines that break the surface, but they are impossible to keep seperated...

    Carbonating with a #8 cork

I carb ciders in champagne bottles with regular #9 corks with no problems. I age with them a wooden box stuffed with paper towels just in case. occasionally I even see where a cork or two has pushed up 1/4", but no popped bottles yet and some have been going on a year. I put between 1 and 3 carb...

    Ever brew rip roaring drunk?

I once threw a huge BBQ/Brew day at my house. I was buzzed by 11:30 AM and I forgot to mention all my guests that the smooth Vienna Ale they were drinking was over 8%. I imagine I got a ton of guys in trouble later that night. I remembered to keep an eye on everything, but totally forgot about...

My Porter is flat, should it be?

Destroy proteins huh? I haven't done it that way in forever because I have enough beer to be more patient :mug:.

My Porter is flat, should it be?

2 weeks is the usual recomendation, but some beers certainly do get ready quicker. You can also do the following. SET the gas to 30PSI. SHake the &*(&^ out of the keg Let it set 24hrs release the pressure down to serving pressure. FYI, I never lower the pressure below 10PSI. I suspect...

My Porter is flat, should it be?

You just need to give it another week or two at 12-14 PSI. It generally takes 2 weeks to do it that way.

    Heat generation during fermentation

I don't believe so, There are too many variables involved. Basically the more active the fermentation the more the temp rises.

Is anyone else getting too much head?

    4 Day full fermentation???

It is possible to be done in 12 hours. 3-4 days is actually pretty common. I would still leave it alone for a while so the yeasties can clean up.
